I don't think loot is working 100% all the time. Sometimes I go in a building and see 3-4 bottles of water then nothing for the rest of the game. Othertimes I find shed loads of stuff. I expect to have a better judgement on loot when it goes beta.

yeah it can be random. I've got quite a few weapons but hardly any ammo and for some reason the ammo I do find doesn't appear to load into the weapons correctly.

Had some good encounters last night, group vs group battles. Watched a lone guy with his flash light run off into the darkness towards the city, we were thinking of helping him by dropping a pistol but decided against it. Hope he made it ok

A lot of the loot gets stripped by server jumpers. They'll loot the big mall in parkerville, run outside, hide, log out, log back in another server, loot it again.

Camp Splinter is the worst, i've sat in a tower watching it over and over. I had 4 guys in 15 minutes do it the other day. It annoyed me so much I started headshotting them, got me a nice bundle of loot.

Yeah i'm hoping that will fix that at some point.

Whether they set it so that unless you make it back to a strong hold, if you log off and join a different server you'll spawn randomly making such things not viable.

Trouble is actually spawning in a strong hold is bloody awkward as you never know whos waiting outside! I tend to only spawn and loot at night, it's a lot safer and easier.

I'm impressed by this game and loving it. The scary mechanic of protecting your gear and avoiding bandits is good fun and at the same time... papping a few individuals who think they're safe and "friendly" with a shotgun or spiked bat feels pretty gooood.

Played for an hour or so last night, got killed by a hacker but other than that came across some friendlies, and hid from some others who had guns ;)

It's pretty atmospheric when you're running around in the woods at night, and suddenly you start hearing gun shots and see muzzle flashes in the distance.

and that's how it works.

The number of stories I read from both sides, about people saying friendly and being shot instantly and vice versa just makes you realize its not worth the effort of typing. Your better off shooting and asking questions later or running and hiding.

I've been in both situations. Said i'm friendly to which they replied "where are you"... I said "out of here" and dropped everything I could, picked up the 4 pistols on the ground and legged it.

Secondly was with two mates, came across a group of 3 inside a farm house. We asked if they were friendly, they replied "yes :o" and then one of them ran out with shotgun drawn trying to look for us. We even said we had 5 guys with guns aimed, drop and leave and they replied "we have snipers on the way". We needed ammo and food so took out the guy outside. We were about to leave when I saw one of the other guys feet through the wall, gave him a few shots and he was dead. Surrounded the building and killed the other guy.

With ammo being so scarce you need every bit you can. Sadly it's the way it goes, kill or be killed. If we were in their position we would have fought our way out. On one hand it's a shame as i'd like to help new guys and raid places with strangers but they are just that, strangers. You could give them a pistol only for them to turn around and blast you in the face.

There needs to be a method of trading between people so that making contact with people is worth it rather than just walking up to them and shooting them.

Strong holds should be random for characters too, so that you don't have people lying in wait outside them for easy kills.

The best time to play this is early in the morning when the servers are empty or have 1 or 2 people in them. Go into the cities, loot what you can and get back to the strong hold asap.

I've told this story before but I like it. I was playing DayZ and didn't have a weapon, I was running around luring up zombies until I found the school, as I'm running towards the school I see a player with an Enfield looking at me, I'm on the mic screaming "Friendly, friendly, don't shoot!" He didn't shoot me and he started picking off zombies as I ran in to the school, I ran in to a room with this guy behind me and he turned back to the door and started wasting the zombies that came in. There was a M1911 in the corner I was sat in and I picked it up, looked down the iron sights and as he dropped the last zombie I swiftly ended his life with a double tap to the head.

The other time that made me laugh, I saw a guy with a pistol running around and he was looking at me as I run around unarmed, I shout again "Friendly, friendly don't shoot mother ****er." and ran past him... I then went on to say on team speak "haha there is some guy in elektro with a gun, I'm going to find a gun and come back and kill him." To which I was met with "LOL, I thought that guy saying "friendly, friendly, don't shoot mother ****er" sounded familiar.

Precisely why I won't be giving players weaponry :p

Even doing that is risky though as firing your weapon alerts everyone around. I never use my weapon on zombies, they are so easy to kill it's not worth wasting the ammo.

Not sure if it's a rare find but just got an M4 with single fire, triple fire and full auto fire modes, also has desert camo, all my m4's before have been bog standard single shot in black

If anyone has a guest pass, could they send it my way please? Reading the last few pages of this thread have really made me want to play :D

I too would like to try this before I purchase it. If anyone would be so kind to trust me a guest pass I would be very grateful.

Thankyou

Darn, my guest pass expired :(

If I buy the game, will I be able to use the characters from my guest account?

You get to keep them.

When my guest pass ran out I bought the game, entered my new key and my characters were still there :)

Believe it bases the characters on your account login, the cd key just allows you to play the game.

Thanks for the info. I think I might just buy myself a copy, then :D
