Injury Thread

Injury: 1 inch burn along my finger (pretty deep for a burn)
Cause: Burning a carrier bag when bored, piece of bag flew of and landed on my index finger, 2 weeks later not even close to healing and not scabbing very well either.

Injury: This thing that you get on your lower knees (like a lump thing that really hurts with even a tiny knock)
Cause: Unknown

Ive got a slight pain in my elbow at the moment. Was trying a bit too much on some dips and something went click.

My right collar bone - the bit that sticks up at the shoulder end also seems to feel out of place - its sticking out more that it should be. Think ive had for over a year now, something gym related.

Injury 1: Right Wrist broken.

Injury 2: Right Humerus broken - compound fracture with a plate holding it together.

Injury 3: Radial Palsy in right hand - nerve in humerus punctured by broken bone, unable to lift fingers as normal.

Cause of injuries: Dismounting MTB downhill at speed "SPLAT".

Injury:
Pain in top or right forearm/inside of elbow joint.

Cause:
Not too sure which particular excercise, I think maybe been given a 30KG dumbell at the wrong height/angle for bench pressing or maybe bad form with side lateral raises.

Only hurts when I do curls, so the rest of my training is not affected - it's been sore for nearly a week now but is much better than it was before....although I might still give hammer curls a miss today.

ouch! how long ago was that?

Twelve days ago, spent five in hospital. The Dr tells me I should regain full use of my hand, it's just going to take months for the nerve to recover. I have to say that it's very strange not being able to use your hand properly, kind of scary really.

Grrrrr dont start me on foreign doctors what you cant understand. The guy had to get a model of a foot out and get a female nurse to tell me what bones i had broken. :o

Then "its fine" as i sat spinning and cracking my foot!

Well I've done my shoulder again.

I reckon upping the weight on squats was probably the issue but it's hard to tell as I also did shoulders the same day. Felt absolutely fine for two days after but it completely ceased up Sunday morning.

It's probably the worst it's been a long time, going to be out of action for at least a week and don't think I'll be heavy lifting for three or so.

Gutted.

injury: Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
cause:
no one really knows for sure as far as I know. Very worrying and could force me to quit. Recovery from surgery can take 2 years!!

injury: Compartment Syndrome - Anterior - (Anterior Shin Splints)
cause:
Bad luck?

injury: Groin Strain
cause: Getting out of bath and bath mat slipped. Had just put laminated wood down on the bathroom floor that day, hadn't put down any floor mats! Wet foot, on that surface and I did some wicked splits lol :D
Months ago and I've continued to play football and squat so it's not really had a chance to heal properly. Doesn't stop me doing anything, just uncomfortable sometimes, especially when getting out the bath!

injury: Tendonitis - Wrists and forearms
cause: Overuse. These are old injuries I keep at bay with the use of a steroidal herb, that contains cortisone I believe, called Cissus Quadrangularis. Everyone who's used it raves about it, it really does work wonders! Only when you stop using it, if you continue training then symptoms inevitably return after a couple of months :( I'm not currently suffering with this but I'm still taking Cissus though my current supply runs out in 2 weeks, I'm going to see how long I last without it as I've just done 4 months straight without a break.

********************

Almost all my problems are below my elbows. The shin splints can be cured with an operation that slices the covering open to allow the muscles to fill up with blood better. Though my doctor won't recommend me for surgery, he says it's not worth the risk of infection! Doesn't everyone who has an op run this risk?
Anyway not too bothered as the symptoms don't appear when I wear shin pads with thick socks! I've looked into this and it appears this keeps the muscles insulated and reduces the effects. So I can play football in relative comfort, I only really struggle in last 15 minutes of a game. I can live with that and I hate running for cardio anyway :D

I think this is currently what I've got and I've orderd some Cissus earlier on today (thanks to your thread on MP!)

On a related note, has anyone used a Manta Ray for squatting before? Physio seems to think this could spread the load across my shoulders better and avoid aggrevating it so much in future.

njury: achillies tendonitis
cause: Not a clue. Was walking across the carpark at work (Morrisons) then suddenly I was hopping across the car park. Any weight on my right foot was a killer

Getting better now....
