Integra Type R DC2

Well I made it back :D

Very impressed with the car, everything checked out, got the full Honda Service history. RTA bushes have been done along with £1000's worth of receipts, every one since new has been kept.

Have had a look through that rust thread, I'll get my father to take it apart and check it out when he's got time, luckily he has his own bodyshop so any rust that needs work on will just be a matter of time and not money although obviously I'm hoping it's not too much of a problem, had a look as good as I could without taking the car to pieces and it seems fine. It had the annual corrosion check at 61k by Honda which all came back fine if that means anything. The chap was more than aware of the rust problems and had been searching for one for months and months before buying this, he had snapped it up just a few hours after going on sale. Previous owner had the car for 10 years and it was obviously cherished. He's only selling as he's got a kid on the way and needs 4 doors (so it's been replaced with an Evo5 RS :D)

So impressed with the car I intend on keeping it for a good while, dont mind spending the money on it if needs be :)

Out of all the cars I've owned (Saxo VTR, STi Bugeye Scooby, EvoII, Corsa VXR, Focus RS, MK3 Supra, along with driving plenty more performance cars) this is by far the most "fun". The VTEC is just addictive and the handling and LSD fantastic, a different league to anything else I've driven. Can see why they are raved about so much, anyone who doesn't "get it" - go drive one :)

Yeah had to have it as soon as I seen it, especially after the test drive

Drive home was great, even though it's not exactly a motorway cruiser it done the job fine sitting at 80mph on the motorway, shame it was a boring drive home, through the congestion of London and then just straight down the M4! But I took it for a quick blast round some local roads just now and it's just awesome, cannot wait for the morning :p

180 miles on 30 quid too, bargain compared to what the RS was doing!

you'll be surprised how little they consume when only chugging along at 60-70ish too!

but yeah, keep us updated with how your getting on. oh and get some pics up :)

The only way to sure check for rust is to rip the interior of the back of the car out, they rust from the inside out, which is such a shame as they're awesome care.

I bought mine and it had a little bit of bubbling on the paint, I thought it'd be a cheap fix, quite the opposite!

And I suppose you have driven or owned one for an appropriate time period or are these 'opinions' similar to those of Joshy who has never driven one? ;) I could harp on how I don't 'get' the Mazda MX-5 and all the praise, but I haven't been in one let alone driven one, so I keep my thoughts to myself instead of coming out and being made to look a silly boy.

They are as good as they are made out to be, you just need to get a good one or overhaul the suspension of an older one. Mine is tight as a virgin on the twisties!

I've driven a couple JDM 96 spec and UKDM and been in a fair few and knew a guy who owned one when it was just 2/3 years old, sorry there are better cars for the money and thats my opinion I personally think my Prelude was a better car in all honesty

If you buy a teg for £6000 and sell for £5500 really its no different to a lude at £2000 sold for £1500 in terms of cost. The 'expense' of a DC2 is simply a number on a piece of paper or webpage - its benefit of paying for something like that.

How does a cheaper car suddenly become 'better for the money' when you view it like that? For example that Corrolla T sport was similar money for a much newer car, but then in 2 years thats actually likely to turn round and bite you when you sell it. Less potential buyers and a bigger drop in value.

For example then when you want to progress to something else, lets say a DC5 next you only need to find £5k again rather than £8k....

Good point well made.

Have to buy one with the work done on it though.

Otherwise you will end up having to put several thousand into the car just to keep it running, which won't add to its value.

Suspension refresh, rust removal and treatment, etc etc.

Fair enough on the cost to change but I really dont see how £2k and £6k can be seen as the same thing thats a massive difference and £6k for a car that needs rust treatment and a suspension overhaul maybe its just me that thinks thats mental given other options for that kind of money

Before I bought my Corolla there was a UKDM one owner 52k mile DC2 for sale quite close to me that was for sale for £5k and didnt need anything doing and I still chose to go for the newer car

well if your mate Dave owned one when it was 2/3 years old, you must be right!! :D

just me or do you always like to back up your opinions with the fact one of your mates used to own one and therefore your right? ;)

lets be honest, 9 out of 10 people are going to enjoy the teg far more than the toyota. if it was a well sorted one, your loss tbh.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you are one of the very few who would prefer a prelude to the Teg. There is a reason it is still ranked up there as one of the best FWD handling cars and the prelude is about 100 places below it.

Driven as in to the shops or actually properly and were these cars anywhere near knew? You're mate might have had one when fairly new but unless youve spent some time driving it how on earth is that evidence.

It's fine to have an opinion on it apparently not being as good as you think, but the vast majority completely disagree with you on this and that says all it needs to.

Having owned and driven neither I can safely say that they are both rubbish and a 2010 Ford Transit 85PS is the best FWD vehicle ever (having driven one). It is also newer so therefore better too. ;)

You missed out then and the very point you seem to hate about DC2 Rs would be playing in your favour..... But of course they are overpriced do you would sell it for £3500 rather than £5000 as a moral stand point against scene tax? Would you **** cos you know the market allows you to ask £5k

I dont feel I missed out on anything thanks, I also dont recall saying I "hated" them

I'm not on my own with the Prelude comment either stulid, it was an ongoing debate for years on the Honda forums but thanks for your valued comment
