Intel has a Pretty Big Problem..

I don’t care for either. You couldn’t come up with anything then, not even a brand name of the equipment, because it didn’t exist.

If your really so fascinated it says tektronixs 4040 on it.

Funny how much you have to misrepresent my posts.

I also had a range of other gear including Zalman stuff and various DMMs, etc. I just didn't want to get into weeds with information you'd then just distort and/or move onto the next line of attack anyway.

So @jigger can we see your data to back up your claims?
Jumping on someone for not producing their "evidence", let's see yours...

You can read back a few pages. I’ve spoken to an Intel rep and made the correct decision in avoiding Intels 250 watt processors. I always felt the power use and design was much too high of a risk.

You mean the bit where a friend's sister's husband 2nd cousin's neighbour works for Amazon and said something?
And you're complaining about Rroff's evidence?

Rroff has no evidence. I’m pointing out the argument is based on nothing plus contradicts itself and the situation. Intel do in fact have a big problem. The question is how big. Looking at Intels sales figures, what people are saying and Intels financial figures it’s significant.

Take a step back... returns on Intel's 13th and 14th gen even if they were catastrophic would be a tiny slither of Intel's problematic financial situation...

Another retailer which publishes some details alza.sk:

14600 chips don't seem to be selling very well at all, same for Ryzen 7900 but that isn't so surprising, return rates are about average, 7950 sales are so-so but failure rates are slightly elevated, in comparison the 7800X3D is outselling most other SKUs in a similar segment by 5:1 and also has amongst the lowest return rates, while the 14700s are doing OK sales wise with about double the return rate of the 7800X3D - which is fairly consistent with the long term rate for that segment. 14900 about what you'd expect sales wise but failure rates are elevated with about double the 7950 series average.

RMA.
Warranty replacement.
Fault analysis.
Multiple fundamentally flawed products.
Probably over 12 months to working on a fix.

All very expensive. Makes sense why Intel tried to avoid responsibility for so long.

Most of those factors will be ongoing/forward costs compared to Intel's existing financial woes, and still a tiny slither of their current situation a lot of which is due to foundry woes and dropping billions into AI they've not recouped.

This is almost certainly an ongoing issue. Intel chips will continue to oxidise and degrade.

Seems they don't have an anti trust problem

Intel (INTC) won a major legal battle on Thursday when the European Union’s top court ruled that EU antitrust regulators could not reinstate a €1.06bn (£883m/$1.14bn) fine against the company, marking the end of a nearly two-decade-long case.

Not exactly:

Intel sought to annul the ruling in 2009 and lost in the EU’s general court in 2014, but went on to succeed on appeal in 2017 when the EU’s highest court opened the case for review, declaring a legal error.

The case returned to the general court, which in 2022 annulled part of the 2009 decision, but upheld the commission’s finding of market abuse through naked restrictions, ie those that only have the aim of eliminating rivals. In 2022, judges also cancelled the entire €1.06bn fine, as they said they were unable to determine how much of the penalty related to the naked restrictions.

In response, the commission reimposed a fine of €376m last September based on the naked restrictions, prompting the fresh legal challenge from the US firm, which is still in the court system.

Intel had a pretty BIG problem back in Q2 2024 operated with net loss of $1.6BN.

Now it seemed Intel has a pretty MASSIVE problem in the last quarter Q3 2024 operated with massive $16.6BN net loss.

I think Q4 could be far worse with poor Arrow Lake CPU sales. Guess layoff over 15,000 employee will not be enough.
