Intel Haswell Refresh Processors Codenamed Devil’s Canyon – Launching in Mid 2014 With Unlocked Desi

Wccftech posts crap tons of BS constantly, could link to articles which state Ivybridge is Z77 only.

We'll know when it launches, probably not beforehand.
As it stands right now, (Although there is far more negativity than usual) I'd try my luck at throwing a 4970K in a Z87. If it doesn't work, Intel's truly screwed over customers.

all you can do is wait and see,i hope z87 supports them too but you know what intel are like

Going back what "Intels like" would mean Z87 would support the new K's. Not doing so is in fact going against the grain.

It's actually a pretty poor business choice, as people already have negative views on Intel with regards to chipset/sockets (a lot inaccurate), and all this is doing is making valid complaints, and it's going to sting current customers.

well I found out they blocked the unofficial oc loophole with b85/h81/h87 with a newer cpu microcode (nothing stopping them doing it on dc either)

idk what the deal is with dc,they simply could hold off any bios updates till they have sold a bucketload of z97 boards

b85/h1/87 were never meant for OC'ing to Intel, doing so was going against them, it's not quite the same, then removing the loop hole can't be taken as a negative.

Nothing's stopping Intel from blocking the new K, but enthusiasts won't like it.

The problem is the lack of competition so I agree Intel can do whatever they want. It would be truly unfair to the people that bought Haswell and Z87 to not be able to give Intel more money without giving too much. :) They will lose market in that way, not create more for motherboard vendors. If your vendor updates the BIOS and supports the new CPU you are far more likely to chose them over someone else come next upgrade. Motherboard manufacturers know that, enthusiasts know that as well.
P.S. I read about some stuff reviewers are reporting - higher memory overclock on Z97 compared to Z87 even with the current Haswell chips - in which I see absolutely no reason as the memory controller is fully integrated for 5-6 years already. The other marketing trick they have to lure people into upgrading?!?

You need a hearing aid if you can't understand that video.

They clearly say that Devil's Canyon is z97 only. Suck it up, time to upgrade or stop whining.

Dont dis until you know the facts, ive just sorted the problem, after an update from Gigabyte app centre yesterday, turned out I had a faulty creative driver, music on my PC was working fine, but no you tube video's were, they were all muffled.

For those who held off Ivybridge / 1st Haswell chips and building this year Z97 / 4790K is a nice bonus. Intel could have just launched nothing until Broadwell. At least they are trying to generate some interest in the market.

I'm gonna take a break from high end until next year, wait for Haswell -E and Broadwell to appear before spending anymore money. Got to many games to play on the consoles so I think it's a good time to take a break. Won't get stung in the new 28nm milking cards that way either lol.

Anyone want a pair of GTX 780 Ti's? :p

My build next year,

GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK
i7 5770K Broadwell 14nm
32GB DDR4
Nvidia GTX 880 or 880Ti (Whichever is 20nm)

wont you need a new mb for ddr4?:p think its different slot cutouts on the ram

Just asked Stasio on Gigabyte Tweaktown forums if Z87 are going to get the same microcode update and his reply was, "Hope yes (or can be modded)...same microcode update is for Z87 too.......06C3xx"

So theres hope yet, plenty of modding to bioses going on over there.

First 14nm Broadwell will be on Z97, Broadwell in Q4 2014 /Q1 2015.
Skylake brings DDR4 to the mainstream lineup later on..

I def want the Gigabyte Z97X UD5H Black Edition, can use same DDR3 then as well. 14nm Broadwell should be really good. Especially as it'll have to top Devil's Canyon chips (4.4Ghz)

I'm gonna hold out until then..

im tempted also, the asus gene is calling my name but my current sandy and ivy do everything I want,it would be purely for the smell of new components
Particularly your ib chip as it seems to be a pretty decent example going by results in a few benchmarks on here. Made the move from a pretty poor 3770k to this chip in sig, tbh it has turned out to be a bit underwhelming. But i know what you mean about getting new components.

Guess we've got about 3 weeks to find out what's the score, with the DC coming 2nd of June at last count.

Ha, that's what usually gets me. I'm just gonna hold out. Mostly game on PS4 these days so I can wait until next year.. (I hope) lol.

I'll come back to high end for 20nm GPU / 14nm CPU and the Witcher 3 :p
