Intel Haswell Refresh Processors Codenamed Devil’s Canyon – Launching in Mid 2014 With Unlocked Desi

Quick question guy's, I was just going through bits to see what thermal paste I have for when the chips arrive. I'm gonna try it with a H100 first of all and if it performs okay then I do not need to buy a new cooler. I have an unopened thermal paste called Arctic MX-2, Is it a decent one? Which versions are generally considered to be the best pastes to use?

I'm only talking about a paste to use between the cpu and cooler not about delidding.

I've seen the mx-2 by Artic cooling and I'm wondering how old my pack is now, It does not say turbo MX-2, the Arctic does not have cooling written under it in the product name and I'm now wondering just how old it is and if I should buy new anyway (do they have a shelf life limitation?) so what's a great paste please..

yeah they simply wont have time/or manpower to do it

I think they should also do batches without the ihs glued/attached so the consumer can add there own thermal paste ect

Or what about batches minus the heat spreader, perhaps shipped with something like this whilst maintaining some form of limited warranty...

best paste for that would be ic diamond,i wouldn't use it between ihs/die though but between cpu cooler is fine

Improved thermals would be nice, even if it cant quite get to 5GHz
( this one is at 1.315v on a scythe air cooler ).

If the picture doesn't want to show, its i5-4670K running at around 100 degrees 4.6GHz

@Wazza3000, @ joeyjojo,

Thanks for replying guy's. I'm a bit worried about just how old my MX2 is (I can't remember as it's one I found tucked away) and whether they have a shelf life even though it's unopened so I'll probably buy a new paste and will take a look at the ic diamond mentioned and the MX2/4 which I notice has great reviews in the shop section. Thank's again.

DC will be my last upgrade on the 1150 platform. My next system will probably be whatever replaces the enthusiast x99. I did run a Bloomfield setup but made the mistake of replacing it with an i5 Ivybridge, (later switched to a 3770k). Tbh ive been a bit underwhelmed by intels mainstream chips. Seems with DC though theyve maybe finally got it right.

I just updated my Sabertooth z87 with the newly released bios 2003 that supports Devils Canyon and im gonna get one of them bad puppies when they are released cause the 4770k i have is one of the worse samples ive seen in a long time.

Incidentally phixsator, have you tried your previous oc settings on the new bios? Recently flashed to a new bios on my board in sig, vcore required for the same oc needed quite a jump. Ive yet to install the 1504 DC compatible bios though.

I need to get rid of my 4770k, really.
I just setup the water cooling loop, together with 2 780s and guess what, temps 55-65 under full load... at stock speeds. Did Intel use tar to attach the ihs or what...
I really hope that 4790k is better.

Not good

Gpu's sit at 33 max under load, so you see the difference.
And even 1080 worth of rad doesn't help with these cpu temps ( 3 ek pe 360s ).
Oh well, not to worry.
Stock speeds do the job for normal tasks, but I want to get back to benching so I need a good clocking cpu.
