Beta bios 1504, (latest on support page for the formula) lists compatibility with devils canyon mate. Ive downloaded it for later use.

Cheers for that good sir just found that bios info too. Using a lappy at present until 4790k is in stock I know I updated the bios before I got shot of the 4770k just hope it was at least 1504 or I will be up the creek without a paddle

Thought I would be looking at doing some fancy footwork but came across a g3220 in an old mining setup, that should do me just to update the bios.

Agreed, as ive had enough of this 4770k. If i wanted to heat the room id buy another radiator. Probably a good bit cheaper too.

Bit the bullet and preordered the 4790k just now. Hopefully get a chip that matches the one in sig clocking wise but much cooler. Anything else will be a nice bonus.

Seen some people on yt heat the ihs with a hairdryer to soften the adhesive before slicing into it. Vice and hammer seems a bit excessive, id be wary of the shock damaging the chip.

Oh yes, really looking forwards to it. But the biggest change will be from buying and using my first SSD.

I'm hoping that's exactly the sort of thing that won't be needed, My last two chips have sucked, 3570k, 4770k, I'm praying to the Lottery god this time.

Hairdyer method/then knife worked a treat for me on one of three 4770K I've had. Returned one and have just sold one. I was hoping for a better CPU each time and seemed to hit a brick wall even when delidding.

Bake it at 80C in the oven for 10 minutes. Easiest, safest way.
