I got my 4790k today and the batch number is L424B343
Oh that's great news then
Yeah mate it's definitely 1.024v, checked it in the BIOS.
I just thought IC Diamond 7 was just amazing stuff haha, it's unbelievably thick! I've never use thermal paste quite that thick before. Apparently the BIOS update helps a lot too as it changes something with regards to voltage etc on my motherboard which is a Maximus VII Ranger.
Either way I'm extremely pleased my friend
Waiting on my H100i to come and will be using it with a new 4790k, would you suggest that it would be best to use IC Diamond 7 or another paste other thatn the pre-applied TIM on the H100i?
As above I believe the Corsairs pre-applied paste is already premium stuff. I only changed it because I had the H100i installed on a different CPU before.
I really have no idea why my 4790k is so much cooler than everyone elses though!
The two I've had were incredibly hot, moreso than my previous 4770k.
I've thought about it, but even at 74c max temps are still within spec, even 4.7 is way more than enough for my gaming needs.
That temp is fine. I only delidded mine to try and push for 4.8.
How much more overclock did you get?
I was already at 4.7 on 1.29v but temps were well into the 80's with Realbench/Handbrake, after delid they touch 70c. I can't get 4.8 stable unless I exceed 1.35v which I'm not prepared to do. 4.8 benches with Cinebench/Realbench with 1.32v but BSOD's with Handbrake.
4.6 is stable with 1.200vc
