***Intel i7 4790K Owners thread***

Oh that's great news then :)

Yeah mate it's definitely 1.024v, checked it in the BIOS.

I just thought IC Diamond 7 was just amazing stuff haha, it's unbelievably thick! I've never use thermal paste quite that thick before. Apparently the BIOS update helps a lot too as it changes something with regards to voltage etc on my motherboard which is a Maximus VII Ranger.

Either way I'm extremely pleased my friend :D

Waiting on my H100i to come and will be using it with a new 4790k, would you suggest that it would be best to use IC Diamond 7 or another paste other thatn the pre-applied TIM on the H100i?

could a bios update reduce temps?
using winavi aio convert', i was getting 80º-85º under full load.
after updating the bios, i get 69º-73º _ (30min of conversation, with previous bios id get 93º max)

p.s.
no OC.
only default settings.

As above I believe the Corsairs pre-applied paste is already premium stuff. I only changed it because I had the H100i installed on a different CPU before.

I really have no idea why my 4790k is so much cooler than everyone elses though! :)

Some do run a lot cooler than others,
I have 2 here one runs @ 50-60c OCCT 100% @ 4.6GHz
The other runs @ 65-70 for exactly the same.

How much more overclock did you get?

I was already at 4.7 on 1.29v but temps were well into the 80's with Realbench/Handbrake, after delid they touch 70c. I can't get 4.8 stable unless I exceed 1.35v which I'm not prepared to do. 4.8 benches with Cinebench/Realbench with 1.32v but BSOD's with Handbrake.

4.6 is stable with 1.200vc :-D

So really not got a better overclock just better temps?

I have one of mine delided and found much the same huge temp reduction but overclock wise no better.
