Intel Price Drop at OcUK & new CPU's now available!!

Well actually I have read that the new E6850's clock very well on the P35 boards. As well as the Q6600's , so as I don't upgrade every year I should go for the current best technology available. I like to game in my free
time, encode movies and will dual boot XP and Vista. So I have choices.
Now is a great time to upgrade.

They have to prove it first, and that can be very hard to do...

The standard DS3 doesn't support Quads though
According to the 'Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread' you are wrong on this, as it states in the topic that it supports it via the F7 bios update. And also has info stating the support of 1333 FSB as well.

Unless whoever has been updating the thread has just added the wrong info.

Anyone running a Q6600 or another type of quad on a standard DS3? Non P version that is?

According to the Gigabyte website all revisions of the DS3 & DS4 support the Q6600 & QX6700 with the appropriate BIOS, but only the rev 3.3 boards support 1333 FSB CPUs.

Rev 1.0 of the DS3 DOES support Quads. I had my Q6600 running at 330x9 in my old one.

But the only P965 board to overclock the Quads decently is the Abit QuadGT.

So the E6600 isn't dropping in price then? :( I was hoping it was going too.

Looks like I will have to get the E6320 then, as I don't think I will be able to afford the other one as I plan to buy a motherboard/ram/graphics card also.

I have also noticed that the E6320 has dropped in price, will this continue to drop in price then for July 22nd, or is it as it stands now?

Gibbo: Can you confirm if the E6850's you will be selling will actually be G0 stepping?

i thought all E6850 or all E6*50 are the new G0 stepping eith q6600 to be updated to G0 in july, unless you heard otherwise somewhere?

and the price on the E6850 is just ridiculous, it was mean to come in as the same price as the E6600, which should be around £150.

So the 3.3 is compatible with quad cores?

If i went for the 965P-DS3 & its a 3.3 it will do what i want, the P35C-DS3R is basically £25 more expensive for DDR3 support then?
