So the 3.3 is compatible with quad cores?

If i went for the 965P-DS3 & its a 3.3 it will do what i want, the P35C-DS3R is basically £25 more expensive for DDR3 support then?

You won't be able to go over a 330mhz FSB with the P965 Gigabytes (just like 95% of the other P965 boards). You'll still get near 3ghz, but probably not over it.

So its worth the extra £25 for the P35C-DS3R then?

Admittedly i'm a total novice to overclocking, but i know someone who bang into it and i'm going to get him to do mine once its arrived.

I'd say the Q6600 @ £176.25 (roughly), followed by the e6600 @ £145.

Agree, tempted by Quad options now although think i'll hang on till the real deal chips show up next Jan/Feb. :)

Yeah it's worth it. You'll regret it if you don't go for a P35 board.

Ok sold.

I've seen plenty of people talking Gigabyte up these day, i know they've been around for ages and have been solid, but you get companies going through tough times and good times, 2007 seems a good year for Gigabyte.

I think this is the one for me (good, honest price, decent spec, future upgrade abilities and solid build quality), can't wait till the price drop.

:D

Yeah good boards, however the heatsinks are huge and couple of aftermarket cpu coolers wont fit easy, if at all. Hence why i opted for a diff P35 board.

Really?

I was thinking about going for the Freezer, its £15 and the pro 64 got such good reviews, is this a compatible one?

Ta.

I've been holding out for a cheap quad but Its going to take some price cut to make me change from my E2160 @ 3.6Ghz :p

Then again ... if 4Ghz is easy with air I amy be tempted :D

That one fits fine, i was refering to the £30 to £45 heavy duty high overclocking coolers, been a few problems reported. :)

The Q6600 as of 23rd July will drop to around £150+VAT region, give or take a few quid dependent on dollar rate.
The the Q6600 and E6850 are going to be the same price though, aren't they? So the Q6600 should be £200 inc VAT.

Gibbo said in some thread that the price of the E6850 is most likely to drop £10 - £20.

Thatd be this thread, and of course it will...youd think people would have cottoned onby now that ocuk always overcharge when things are on pre order before launch...

So it was. :)

I couldnt be bothered looking for it.

It is.

Tho I'd still highly recommend getting the P35 version if you intending taking a Quad over a 333/1333mhz FSB.

What exactly is so special about this G0 stepping everyone seems to be going on about? All ive read is it runs a bit cooler and thats it.

and lower wattage? which should make them better overclockers.

It's just an update to the core. Tho lower temps will be a godsend to those running Quads on air.
