Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

£350 would be ideal.
Also LOL at leasing a CPU.

Found somewhere else selling/listing it at £350.76 inc. VAT, so you might be in luck, hopefully for you that is the official price.

Also a Swedish place for 4090 Kr which is £370 ish, that's inc TAX.

It would also appear that one of the other big US retailers has the 8700K listed, at $429, bear in mind that they sell the 7700K at $395, so they are about $30 over priced on most things.

What the hell has gone wrong with this post..

$430? That can't be right, with Tax and £ vs $ the way it currently is the pricing rates are near even with the $, which would make that well over £400.

US 7700K currently retailing at $340, UK £350.

I'm going Asus this time. The last 2 gens I've gone Gigabyte. There mobo fan setup is rubbish. Giving Asus another try. Hope they don't let me down?

Asus has been the best of the lot when it came to the *********** launch of a certain CPU recently, they were the ones putting the effort in on the forums helping customers and giving almost weekly bios updates. The other vendors were quite hush hush about it all.
Elmor is really open and helpful, and quite active over at overclock.net that alone is worth my money.

I hope there are some good boards at launch? All intel need to do is keep the 8700k at or below £350?

Are there any downsides to the non k versions, other than not overclocking? I've always had k versions, but a friend is looking for a new build and can't stretch to 8700K, but normal 8700 should be in budget. Won't be overclocking at all. Looks like just a lower base speed, is that it?

You mean how they are configured in the bios or something else? Gigabyte fixed their crap fan management in the latest bios that got a new uefi interface. Doesn't have that stupid pwm % per c or whatever is was. Has a graph now to let you set a fan curve.

The down side is you have to pay for a Z370 chipset and the motherboard is a dead duck.

i7-8700 3.2GHz base clock, 4.3GHz four core boost and 4.6GHz two core boost with 12MB L3 cache and a TDP of 65W for £295-305.

The other option is the i5-8400 which is 2.8GHz base clock, four core boost of 3.8GHz and a two core boost of 4GHz, only 9MB of L3 cahce, still 65W TDP, will be around £175 - yes it's only 6c/6t but it is very good value, but if you need the higher boost, then the 8700 is a nice choice, albeit a bit overpriced.

The 8400 with a entry price H310 board would make some sense, but the only upgrade is really the 8700k and then you can't overclock so meh. Either buy the 8400 if you're happy with the performance or go all out Z370 8700K. That or jump on AM4 and take a small hit on performance per core.

If you're going for a non K, then might as well get a H310 or H370 mobo, it's going to make everything cheaper.
The 8700 non K looks pretty attractive due to boost and supposed launch price.
