Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

Ryzen is a decent enough platform and is a real bang for buck champ. Nobody can argue with 16 solid cores, and even at default RAM speeds and default clocks a 1800x is a beast of a workstation that wouldn't really spoil your games, especially at 1080p. Who can argue with that for a couple of hundred quid? First world problems and all that, and tbh it's nice to actually have this dilemma. Who'd have thought this time last year we'd have terabytes of anguished posts over which CPU to buy? haha. :D

The 1800X is 8 core.

No doubt it's got very solid bang for buck.
Although to be honest, having a lack of core for core power can ruin your games, which is frankly what I'd consider your FX8350 to be. Albeit you're running a very weak modern GPU.

If Ryzen could clock to 5GHZ it wouldn't have the issues it does, its core clocks are just so damn poor, but this is hopefully something that will be addressed in a future iteration.

Once I finally get rid of my dying 290X, perhaps I'll end up disappointed in my Ryzen.
That's my point. GTAV obviously likes clock speed that's why it has a distinct advantage over Ryzen, that's why that one was used. Now the 8600k is clocked at 5.1 so that means the 8700k is likely clocked the same. To me it looks like the Ryzen chips are stock which is fine but don't use it to paint a picture that the 8700k is nearly 50% quicker, it's always going to be quicker but not that much.

You're making assumptions to suit your agenda.
It's very likely that GTA V can use more threads and the CPU's that haven't got specific frequencies are running stock.

A game being able to use multiple threads doesn't mean it's using them effectively, it's very possible for 4 cores to beat out 8 cores even though those 8 cores are seeing simultaneous use.

Alright smartass, 16 solid threads. You know full well what I meant. haha :p I don't game. I run half a dozen servers on my FX chip and it downloads at 380Mbps all day every day crunching PARs and RARs while running several VMs and serving Plex and Emby to half a dozen users. I only have a GPU at all because I offload a couple of transcodes to it during busy times, and I got the 1050Ti because it was cheap (£100 on offer) and can hardware offload HEVC and VP9.

There are a few games that even with ryzen clocked to the same frequency, its on par with i3's etc. Clockspeed isn't its only issue.

All chips are stock apart from that 5.1Ghz 8600K which they clearly label in their graphs, what are you even on about?
And if you look at their previous reviews, they've been using GTA V with those settings for a long time.

I'm not sure why you're in full damage control.

No I get that it just doesn't look right to me. Maybe I have got it wrong?

The whole .ro review is a bit dodgy TBH.
Maybe it is right but if they are reputable then why have they broke nda? Anyway it's touching a few nerves so I'll wait to see a wider spectrum of results.

Don't like what I see = wrong :D
No it's fair to question ryzenso it's equally fair to question Intel. No need to make this into something it's not. Jesus Christ I could just buy one myself if that mattered that much lol.
