Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

I have 4 slots though right so can I just get 8gb (2x 4gb) now and then get another 8gb (2x4gb) at a later date?

Or is 2x 8gb better than 4x 4gb?

AFAIK,if you run the RAM faster than 2667MHZ you are technically overclocking the memory controller and two sticks of RAM will put less stress on the controller than four sticks of RAM.

OTH,it also depends if you are trying to push the memory controller massively,so is a Coffee Lake Core i5 fine at running 4 sticks of RAM at 3200MHZ??

Yeah, but I think its mostly down to shortages, inflation and poor exchange rates. :(

Look at this from rainforest and weep!

Exchange rates have improved since April and inflation hasn't happened that quickly. It's because all the big fabs are prioritising memory for mobile phones since that's where the money is right now. Both DRAM and SSDs are suffering and it sucks.

Or very bad wields, hence Intel now is removing the all boost core speed.
You get a 8700K that guarantees 1 core to boost at 4.7Ghz, and thats all. If the chip is crap and the rest of the core cannot get higher than their base speed, isn't an issue.....for Intel.
So no two 8xxx series CPUs are the same, nor their clocks going to be the same.....

Yeah but it's not like you cannot get it like coffeelake for example. It's still available you just have to pay double for it.

In other news, no two nvidia GPU's are the same.....
Of course no two 8xxx are the same, no two anything silicon based are the same. This has always been the case.

They didn't guarantee all core turbo before either, why are people fluffing this news up when they don't even have a basic understanding of how Intel's Turbo works?
They never guaranteed all core turbo frequencies on any of their chips, they only advertise base clocks and max turbo, just like guess which other company...

Of course, the whole point of turbo is it's a clever way to both advertise high clocks and low TDP. "Yes it'll reach these amazing clocks...but only for 5 seconds because otherwise it'll produce too much heat."

The most 'reasonable' price I've seen for decent RAM recently is 16GB of 3000mhz Corsair DDR4 for £136 - and even that is £50 more than it should be. 3200mhz for £155 aswell, but that 200mhz bump for £20 doesn't seem worth it, or is it?
