Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

Has anyone prepared an idiot's guide to overclocking the 8700K? I think my temps/voltages at stock look good under Prime95 (see link) but just setting the multiplier to anything higher than 46 causes threads to stop working less than a minute into the stress test.

Before 8pack enters the building I think he was saying OC core / cache stock or simply leave the cache frequency as stock multiplier.

Attn Gibbo, can you please look at my thread in the Customer Services forum? order OC<redacted>. Seems DPD have lost my order and you guys want to put me to the back of the queue for a replacement. Not impressed

So from what I can make out, your max clock was 4.7Ghz but if you say you set the multiplier to 46 it would give 4.6Ghz.

Would you be as kind to post an image of CPU-Z please and may I ask what board you have?

I think you may need some more voltage as 1.184 might not be enough.

The board is the Asrock Extreme4. I'll install CPU-Z and play with the voltages and cache when I get hone; cheers for the tips.

The cores can individually boost to 4.7, so at low load levels every core hits it eventually, but the simultaneous boost for all cores is (at stock) 4.3. I haven't got this all core boost above 4.6 without problems.

Im using a i5 6800k on the extreme 4 i have 4.8 ghz on all cores stable with voltage 1.25 and catch ratio 4.6. A review i read said its a very good mb for price but it requires a bit more voltage than others. And I found that it was important to set avx ratio ofset to 2 disable speedstep and speed spectrum to get it to pass prime. Im a bit new to overclocking but these setting worked for me if im wrong somewhere any feedback is appreciated I hope this helps.

Dude, that sucks, I was only kidding about the DPD driver stealing it, but maybe he was a tea leaf! :(

You shouldn't disclose your order number on forums. Go to customer service section and they will be ale to help you.

Thanks all for the concern. Dunno what went wrong with the delivery. The CS chap spoke to DPD and it had gone to the wrong DPD distribution centre, got re-routed, then never got scanned in at the correct centre. Seems to have just vanished into the ether. NVM. Gibbo has been great at sorting out a replacement.

Thats good to hear. Hopefully you can get one tomorrow.

Thanks. The system seems stable at 4.9GHz with a cache ratio of 43 and the AVX offset to 3.

H100i v2. I've managed to get 5.1 at 1.34v now.

Nice. I'm not delidded (yet) and getting 70C temps under non-AVX load with 5.0 at 1.30V.

5.1 @ 1.34V was stable enough to run a stress test @ 75C but did blue screen randomly.

We both seem to have good chips (5.0 @ 1.3V) though considering the 8pack binned 5ghz ones need 1.35- 1.425V

They maybe don't need 1.35V for 5ghz but I don't have time to test every single voltage. It's wasting time for me.
