Tempted with a binned 8700k but the one year warranty is putting me off

Someone looked into the link between the 8400 and MCE, and if the stock cooler will maintain low temps or not.
Performs at very low voltage aswell, only ~1.136v. I think budget boards should be easily capable of supplying that much and thus being able to maintain that 3.8ghz all cores.Nice video,
8400 is fine on stock cooler runs at 3.8ghz when all cores are loaded on stress test at around 75c.

Early next year. Although, choosing Z370 right now does have the benefit of allowing faster RAM speeds (which can make a big difference in games).Do you know when the cheap boards are being released?
Depends on board and layout of memory on the board.
4 dimm boards 3866-4000 easy
2 dimm boards 4133+
For what its worth to people, 3600CL16 is equal to 3866CL18 and 4000CL19 is slower than both due to slacker secondary timings.
3600CL14 fast but I can't get it stable without sacrificing speed.
Aim for 3200CL14-3600CL16 is what I've found.

On the topic of super-high-speed memory kits, the gains here are limited, too, often below 1%. So spending all that money on a faster graphics card instead should be more useful, at least if you are a gamer. Modders should also sign up for higher-speed memory which often come with better visuals and lighting options, ie. RGB, etc. Should you be a competitive overclocker, then every little bit of performance matters and money should be no object.
