Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

Just an FYI. If you plan to use EK back plate and casket on the Z370I be ready to shave off half of the casket. It doesn't fit due to some new stuff Asus put on the back of the board.

Already sent pictures to EK for reference and they are pleased with the information

the Z370I Strix is pretty solid 2 dimm board atm. When the Apex released I will make a comparison regarding max mem, max clock, and cas tweaking.
In the mean time, enjoy 4040Mhz 14 14 14 28 and 5.2Ghz 1.424v non delided + XMP 4133Mhz.

Also with 4133Mhz xmp volt at 1.35v I managed to lower the cas to 17 18 18 28

Z370I Strix, is a great board, and it's perf against the other Z370s is in par.
Imho feels more solid, and complete board, compared to the Crosshair VI Hero!!!!
Or some of it's bigger Z370 siblings from Asus.

Yeah, and is a mITX board for heaven sake.

Anyhow. Check the tRFC clocks. Somehow XMP profile sets them too high. It should be 52 on my board but sets it to 630. I see on your board sets your ram to 707.
Also upgrade your bios to the latest version. It fixes the Vrdoop and the LLC override.

you are mistaken Intel tRFC vs AMD's tRC. Even on LN2 it wont do 52, typical LN2 is 4000+ 12-11-11-28-200-1T.
Bios is latest ;)

mea culpa. is the tRC i was referring to. roflmao.
(installing games atm do hadn't gone to bios to fiddle with it).

BTW did you manage to install the AI Suite 3 from the Z370I support page? I cannot, the setup hangs there on the background.

I never use them to be honest :D

Talking about the Z370I. Just loaded the 5Ghz profile set the ram at 3600Mhz and all is joly good. Run some benchmarks for awhile temps don't exceed 50C and the Predator is barely shifting air.
Lets see if I can push to 5.2-5.3 tomorrow. :D

(in the mean time set minimum profile on the predator 50% just in case because is scary silent).

--------

If anyone asks how I ended up with a 8600K that was setting up for my friend, and where is the 1800X is a long story. At least made profit selling the 1800X....

what voltage cpuz is reading at that speed? Sweet little board XMP 4133Mhz enables without a problem.

According to the HWInfo 1.47 was a spike, but all it on auto according to OC profile. When it was benching all cores was 1.392v without moving from there. Atm fluctuates between 0.640 and 0.8.

Quick update.
Went to manually OC everything. The system is stable at 5.2Ghz, 1.38v assuming I leave Ring at 4Ghz.
Atm going to bed. Is stable 5.1Ghz with Ring 4.5Ghz. I believe 4.8Ghz is achievable tomorrow with more fine tunning. I will also try 5Ghz with 5Ghz Ring and see if it can be done.

The settings I am using.

x51 multi sync
Adaptive voltage mode. 1.350 offset +0.05
Ring minimum 40
Ring maximum 45
AVX offset 4 (no need to burn it).
LLC Level 5
CPU VCCIO 1.2375
System Agent 1.15
IA AC Load Line 0.01
IA DC Load Line 0.01

that results max 1.4v

For a mITX board hold really nicely, more fine tuning tomorrow.
And going to get the monoblock also :)

Can you check that the avx offset isn't kicking in under non avx loads?
A few of us on here with 8700k have noticed that it will downclock to offset frequency even without avx loads, like in games for example.

I will mate. Any games in particular? I have atm installed, Stellaris, CK2, WOT, TWW2, Division.
Going to install tonight SWTOR and TESO. But I have a huge list.

And talking about WOT, TWW2, which briefly played or run benchmarks (TWW2) when clocked it to 5Ghz. (haven't tried with the higher clocks).
At 2560x1440 with the 1080Ti @ 2050,
a) in WOT the FPS are the same as with the 6800K @ 4Ghz and the 1800X @ 4.1Ghz (XFR no OC). Hovering constantly between 117-119.
b) in TWW2 gained 2 fps. From 79.1 went to 81.

Any games mate, it seems to happen under any game, it will fluctuate between avx offset and normal clockspeed.

Any idea when the 8400 will be back in stock and back down to £170?

How are people getting on with the 8350k? I might just get one of them.

Don't waste your money on a Core i3 8350K!! Its basically your current CPU with a bit better IPC.

More and more games will take advantage of 4+ cores, and even DF showed how the Core i5 8400 and Ryzen 5 1600 could hit better minimums in complex scenes with certain games than a Core i5 7600K for example!

Just be more patient for more stock to drop on the Core i5 8400.

Ok then I will wait or if I get impatient just go for the 8600k.

I will probably just wait though.

@Panos is LLC5 the highest you can do on the board or the lowest? If it's the highest level then be very very careful and lower it to max 2 since LLC introduces a lot of voltage overshoot.

LLC level goes to up 6 and Auto. Auto gives more power even than 6.
I will give try to 2, but most people using and advising 5.

The max voltage I saw after hours stability run overnight night was 1.4v according to HWInfo

I'm not sure how your board does the LLC levels, but it's always prudent to keep it on Auto and just raise voltage if needed to get stable. LLC tends to introduce a lot of voltage overshoot in certain scenarios. But if you're stable at current settings, might as well keep it as it is, I'm just very weary of LLC in general.
