Intel to launch 6 core Coffee Lake-S CPUs & Z370 chipset 5 October 2017

3570 to a 8600K? Good move or wait more? I'm sure the Hex core would help with today's games a bit more. I have things I can sell that are just sitting here tbh. That'll take some money off it essentially.

I'm sure there's going to be Xmas/New Year deals too..

Waste of time when you could get a 3770k cheap. Better to hold out for an 8700k with three times the thread count.

^ I'd normally be inclined to agree 2700k/3770K on your current platform or go all in with the 12 thread Coffee Lake. However, the B75 chipset means no overlocking which muddies the waters somewhat.

Never overclocked before it scares me like water. I can get a 3770K for cheap but not sure that's gonna give much better perf surely?

A new Motherboard for the 3770K is easily gotten too.

Just get a i5 8600k if only gaming. Although prices are high at the moment, got mine for £270.

There is also the 8700 to consider as it has been priced the same as the 8600k.

2.8Ghz seems low, why a Z board with that CPU? can it be overclocked? I thought it was only xxxxK CPU's could be.

Just seen Multi Core Enhancement, would that give it the 4Ghz Boost clock when gaming then?

Under load it hits 3.8ghz all cores (the figure that matters). No, you can't overclock it even on a Z370 board but you can use faster (3200mhz is a good price/perf speed) RAM. Faster RAM does have a decent performance benefit in some games.

Although overall it would be harder to recommend the i5-8400 right now, as it costs £40 more than it should.

8400 and a £99 z370 is all you need all for the price of a 8600k. Performance difference is not that noticeable even with the 8600k at 5ghz. Check the reviews out.

Yeah I'm happy with my 8400 doesn't seem to ever hold my gtx 1080 back.

Yeah ignore the 2.8, the minimum it runs at is 3.8 when all cores are loaded.

You can use mce or just set the clocks manually.

Why a z board? Because that's all the that's available now the cheaper boards don't come out until January. Also it's nice having a Z board so you have an upgrade path.

Performance on the 8400 does seem perfect for gaming it's doing a great job powering my 1080. I would wait for them to come back down to the 170-180 retail price they was on launch.

Thank you. Yeah is a bit steep, I'll keep my eyes pealed for prices. Faster RAM is something I've wanted for a while, would 3000Mhz be feasable?
Yeah I wouldn't get anything much lower though the 2133 stuff really holds these new processors back.

I think 8 pack said the 3200 is the best performance for the money.
