International football & World Cup Qualifiers 9th Sept **spoilers**

Anybody know what was going on after Eduardo scored? Some idiot ran onto the pitch and looked like he was having a go at Eduardo who then appeared to wrestle him to the ground. Itv switched to long range shots of the stadium at that point and when pictures came back Eddy was immediately subbed. For his own protection?
He got a hug off the Croatian fan who was then dragged off the pitch by security. The Croatian 11 waded in mind because it looked like they were a bit heavy handed with the fan.

yeah i cant believe they cut that off! Could have made it more exciting if they showed the guy getting pinned down! lol

I dont really get to see many england games (being korea etc.) What do you guys think about how the team has developed? They are currently holding a better record than spain in qualifying. Do they look like a good team?

cheers

They have their BEST chance since Bobby Robson IMO to win the World Cup, not because they didn't have the players before, its because they now have Capello.

5-1, shouldn't complain (although it should have been 5-2, with a penalty for Johnson's foul on Eduardo) and we did play some really good footbal, but... did anyone else think we looked pretty frail at the back. Johnson, in particular, seemed flustered and inattentive at the back.

At 4-0 up it barely matters, but against higher quality opposition (and, yes, Croatia are a good side, but they were missing multiple key players for this game), I worry that we'll lack the defensive solidity to win.

:p

Anyone goin to SA next year?

Going to try :D

Argentina were awful, they need to get a settled side and decide on a decent tactic. They're changing so much!

Brazil looked fairly good, won 4-2, and are easily the best side in South America right now / the world.

As an avid talkSPORT listener i've had to turn it off .....

The English hype usually doesn't bother me but what i've been hearing so far is way over the top, personally.

And so the media hype begins. Great headlines this morning in the papers...

And this is what winds me up...sure England had a great game albeit against a team that was virtually clueless when it came to defense.

Anyways Englands group was pretty much a walkover imho...so for them to qualify wasnt a shock to me.

Ill be watching with interest when they make the group draw on Dec 4th and see where England land...if they land in a tough group then i dont hold out much hope for them to progress let alone win the WC..according to sky they 7/1 to win behind Brazil and Spain...personally i think thats a bit optimistic to make them 3rd favourites.

I hate the media hype that surrounds English football :(

We aren't third favorites imo, we won against a very poor side. We qualified comfortably in a very poor group.

As per, Media are quick to build you up, and just as quick to bring you back down, (whenever England get knocked out) always the same.

Please, 4 years since we last went to a major tournament, anybody thats goes off bookies odds is stupid, people always bet on thier home team so the odds are always low. On form England are probably the 4th best team in the World behind Spain Brazil and Holland.

No. If you think Rooney dived against Arsenal you clearly don't watch enough football.

Countless referees have analyzed the tackle on Sky Sports News and all came to the same decision.

They generally know what is and isn't a penalty. Especially from replays.

One of the biggest criticisms aimed against refereeing is that most of them don't understand the game because they haven't experienced playing.

Rooney could have easily stayed on his feet but the ball had been kicked somewhere near to the corner flag, he'd kicked it there because there was only ever one thing on his mind (and it wasn't scoring).

To me that's a dive.
