ugh, just had to call a girl there to say it wasn't going anywhere with us
she seemed pretty into me so it was hard to do. and i kind of liked her but it always seemed a chore having to call or meet her, that's not right is it? i have been single a while though so i wasn't sure if it was me in my single ways.
well tis over now anyway

it was the my first ever date on match so... does anyone find their perfect match first time!?
feel a whole lot better now though. can relax for a while

Well after a break I went back to PoF, changed the profile picture and I seem to be having some success :) Now got a couple interested with one wanting a date Saturday and the other chatting away. We shall see.

Well my first date wasn't going that great. Then I said the words "IT consultant"...... suddenly I had a chatty, flirty girl in the pub  Next!

This really really annoys me as well. Was chatting to a girl on a night out and the subject of jobs came up. Is said I was a computer programmer, her eyes light up and she says "Ah that pays very well doesn't it!". I just made my excuses and left.

Pretty much near enough those words as well. I think next time I will be the office junior or something. I suppose a positive is that you can weed out the gold diggers pretty quick, still a waste of my time.

yeah whats the norm. i paid for pretty much everything when i was out, but some say it doesn't have to be like that

A lot of guys like to, or at least tend to pay for everything on the first date, but really you can just decide things with the person you're on the date with surely?

You should be honest with her and not waste her time either. Sounds like she's really into you.

I didn't want to hurt her, the best I could come up with was "When we first met I wasn't sure, but you are such a nice person I wanted us to meet again, the connection still isn't there but I'm sure you'll find someone if you keep looking." Haven't heard from her since.

Out of interest, did you pay for the dinner or split it?

We both pulled out our payment cards together, I could tell she wasn't just going through the motions, she wanted to pay, but I insisted on paying as I knew I was going to be disappointing her.

I don't know what the etiquette actually is but I do like them to offer to split, then tend to insist on paying myself. Some girls do a slow faff about with their handbag to stall, if they do this I usually ask "how much does this work out to each?" & get them to pay half :p

I cancelled my Match.com subscription last night to stop the autorenewal in time, you actually have to ring a retention team to do so rather than just clicking cancel. I've got to hand it to Simon, he did his best to overcome my objections, suggested putting up more pics, sending more emails, even offered to do something with the price but as I'd already moved from 90% fed up with online dating to 99% my mind was made up & it's lapsing after only 1 mth.

A number of friends have knocked online dating on the head, 2 of them stuck with it for a couple of years & gave it a really concerted effort, however I've been in close communication with them throughout my 3 mths of online dating & have very. very nearly decided to save myself lots of wasted time & effort & ditch it sooner rather than later.

Cool, was just wondering. I took my date on our second meeting to a restaurant and told her I was paying. She offered to go 50/50 but I declined.

I think I will give Speed Dating a go, looks like fun. Too many nuts on the internet and I just want to meet people and not go through the boring and time consuming motions of online chat.

seems i have a date lined up for lunch next saturday, she sent a message through match, i couldn't read it, outrageous subscription fees etc etc, tiny bit of googlefu and wahey, facebook, been talking for two days now, she seems nice, genuinely interested and lovely :D

I'm off to a speed date event on the 15th, I'll post my views on here afterwards and I'm quite looking forward to it.

There's even a graduate professional's speed dating event here as well soon, that could be fun.

Sent - Unread :(
Date planned - Date gets cancelled the day before
Lots of messages in Inbox - Read with some excitement - Lots of overweight Women :(

Not sure if it's what i look like as it attracts a certain person, because my profile is too kind?, No idea!

It is very frustrating but I assume women go about it in a much different way.

I expect most of them don't go around checking everone out like men do and making all the contact first, most of the women that seem normal, look good and unattatched no doubt get loads of messages.
Spend most of their time going through these replying to people they probably like the look of and igorning others.

Men do the chasing women sit back and take their pick :p
