Internet Dating.....Who Has Done it?!

I can quite happily say I've not logged into POF for many weeks now and to be honest there is no love lost.
The place depressed me in a way, I tried to write legible, articulate, individual mails to everyone that looked half about sexy and within a sensible age group.
Either I got "read deleted" or "read" and then never a reply.
I even extended the search area to further afield without any real greater effect.
Of the four, maybe five I got a decent reply from, I met up with. They all turned out to be either nut cases, nothing like their photo or just plain ignorant.
The very last person I spoke to on there seemed interested though and that was before easter. Since getting her mobile number I kinda gave up on the whole idea and never bothered ringing her.

I'd rather be ****ing single!

This tbh. The only girl I really fancy and am mad over in the past year I have met through a friend of a friend :) The older I get, the more I appreciate my freedom. So many of my mates with gf/wife/kids seem increasingly miserable as time goes by, I'm happy I bailed out of my last serious relationship :D

I've been the bailer in all my past relationships except one. (typically the nicest one of the lot too, three years we were together and she was expecting me to ask her to marry me... I didn't, so she went and got seconds from one of her house mates..)
Love you too!!!

The trouble with now is (that one I mentioned was 18 odd years ago ****!! ) I am becoming a cynical miserable old scrote who isn't getting any prettier. :D

i'd say about 90% of the women on pof are stuck up themselves to be honest!

Could say the same about the majority of men on these things! :D

Or theyre just looking to get laid, and dont want anything past that.

so... little update:

the guy who gave me his number after about 1 email, then tried chatting to me through the site. Because my browser was playing up it accepted his chat without me realising, so it wasn't until someone else asked to chat that I noticed he had messaged saying "did you get my last email?" "are you there?"

then he emailed me the original message that contained his number. its creeping me out a little now!

On a more positive note, I reluctantly went to the pub last night with a friend.
long story short - My friend was meeting a guy who was going to be there with his mate. She wanted me to go to make the number even and apparently his mate had asked if i was going as well.

They arrived about 3 hours after we got there and didn't bother coming over. However, a guy came over to us as he recognised someone we'd been talking to.

I got chatting with him and he gave me his number. I didn't give him mine as he said "I'll give you my number so that if you're interested you can text and if you're not then it was nice meeting you"
I wasn't sure how long to leave it before sending a message but as he was leaving with his friends (in a rather drunken state lol) he said "i still haven't got a text :D"

so I messaged him and we ended up talking through text for a couple of hours. He seems a nice guy and not the usual "im just here to get laid"
He wants to meet up sometime to get to know each other more - I've said yes.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but right now I have a huge grin on my face :D

Fingers crossed!!!!

It's funny, for nearly a year i've said "no im not looking i'll let them find me but in the meantime i'm going to concentrate on passing my driving test etc"

then the day after I join a dating site i meet someone in the pub lol.

EDIT: just checked on FB to see if he was on there and it said "mutual friend" turns out hes mates with my sister in law. lol.
this world gets even smaller. I was telling another friend about it and she said "hmm his name sounds familiar" then described him. i dont thnk she knows him directly but as 7 mutual friends with him lol

Im pretty damn new to this after using the conventional 'meeting' means for some time.

I have to agree here, been on PoF not long but I have sent my fair share of messages all with this same outcome.
So to the point were they message back with a whole load of questions to which I answer then they dont reply, back to the old 'read-deleted'.
Whats the point in going to that trouble if you cant be bothered?.
Im becoming a bit dis-illusioned by this online dating world.

Having said that Iam talking to a nice 35yo articulate, well spoken (milf she has two kids) spoken on msn about 3 times for only a couple of hours at a time and have exchanged a few texts.......so when do you ask for a date?.
The last one after arranging a date and her sorting out a babysitter decided that she 'didnt really have time' for a relationship. WTF? why you on a dating site then! sort your bloody life out!.

By the way secretspy... that was me that added you to msn the other day. I'm not stalking you honest. :D
I was going to get your opinion on what I wrote on cupid but meh.

someone from PoF freaked you out because he gave you hes number?

i think i would be more freaked out by you facebook stalking the other guy :)

he wasn't from PoF hes from dating direct and he is freaking me out because he constantly messaged me because i hadn't replied to his message (the one where he gave his number) i was busy getting ready so didnt have time to reply but within 20-30 mins he was emailing again saying "did you get my last message?" etc.

i wasn't facebook stalking the other guy. He asked for my surname and i only searched to see if he was on there as my friend wanted to see a pic to work out why she recognised his name. he knows i checked FB, he didnt seem freaked out by it.

Honestly be brutal, just say yeah I got your message, thanks but your not my type. Good Luck.

He sounds desperate though ......

fair enough... you seem correct :)

in law means a relative by marriage

1. the sister of one's husband or wife.
2. the wife of one's brother.
3. the wife of the brother of one's husband or wife.

At least you tried. :)

I'd sign up but I've not really got much going for me at the moment, so as result I've decided not to bother because I don't believe I'll get anywhere anyway. That is real failure my friend. :p

No worse than me.

I got as far as the first step of the registration process, realised i couldnt think of anything good to write about myself and gave up there and then.
