*** Internet Explorer 9 Final Released ***

Can't believe people like the new UI layout :/ It just looks mashed together compared to all other browsers (IE8 included). not botherig with IE9 untill it's a critical requirement. Chrome and FF4 on all machines here.

IE 9 follows the chrome window layout - tabs at the top, nothing else. How can you say it looks mashed together?

IE9 and Chrome are on a par for me at the moment.

FF is LOL now compared to both.

You've gotten quite a bit confused here then because Chrome and FF (and Opera) all follow a similar trend i layout design. In a way IE9 does too BUT the way they've mixed the URL bar and tab bar in the same line is messy. FF is nowhere near "LOL".

Do the screenshots need to be posted again? It's tedious but it can be done for those with a short memory!

It's a good product yeah but that wasn't the discussion, the discussion was about how they've messed about with the UI layout compared to other browsers that have stuck with what works well in the modern browser!

The discussion here is about IE9. You stuck your oar in and said you didn't like the UI which isn’t really surprising as you are FF/Chrome fanboy. It’s all so very subject especially if you wear blinkers.

Not really, I included IE8 in with the others which I much prefer the layout of over IE9 because it sticks to what works well. Having the same line occupy tab bars and url bar just makes the tab width shorter unless you contract the URL bar length in which case long URLs don't have enough space...

Maybe you've missed ti in other threads but I use all 3 main browsers, primary is FF but the others get used when needed and they're fine.

Interesting read on IE9 VS FF4 VS chrome 10:

http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/ie9-vs-firefox-4-vs-chrome-10-935792

Personally for me, I will always use either chrome or/and firefox due to the addons/customizability, plus find them much quicker/better overall than ie9.

Before firefox 4, I preferred chrome due to speed overall but now with FF4, the speed of loading pages is too small to even be a factor worth considering at the minute, chrome is still the faster overall browser for everything i.e. starting up etc. plus I love the customizability of FF with strata :D, can't wait for twenty ten to be released for FF4, will make it even better. Also love the super smooth scrolling of FF 4 especially in the high res screenshot thread, it is super smooth compared to chrome and all the other browsers that I have tried.

Just read this topic, downloaded and install on Win 7 64bit, wow, it's fast and lots more screen area...
Many thanks for the pointer to the TPL list, again it works really well

I added the option to move tabs to the line below the address bar, but the 'favourites star' is there any method of moving it to the LHS of the address from the RHS?
Its the only thing I would wish to change at the moment.

Why is anybody using the 64-bit version? It has 10x slower JavaScript, invariably has plugin issues and doesn't really offer any advantages?

As for the UI: what puts me off is not so much the default UI, but the fact that you can't really customise it at all...

Can I not get 32bit version to work on Win7 64?
Nevermind I think I unintsalled then it was defaulting to the wrong version..how odd.

The holy wonder of kackness that is Flash is apparently not available in 64bit version....cause ya know..being a small company like Adobe..they wouldnt have seen this coming.....grrrrrrr.

Don't forget to grab the Adblock list from http://www.fanboy.co.nz/adblock/ It works with IE9s TPL feature for a nice Ad free browser with minimal fuss :)

Can you update the lists automatically like Adblock does or are there plugins for that?

I have to say I was prepared to hate the product as I have been using FF for years. I am not a brand snob though and always try the new browsers when they come out. After the first hour of use I have to say I like IE9 better than FF at the moment! Shocked  Waiting to see what the final release of FF4 is but I like the fact that IE9 has each tab as its own process like Chrome has AND has a nice drop down arrow to view past webpages in the URL bar which is sorely lacking from Chrome which is why I never use it.

If there is an equivalent for Adblock Plus for IE9 that auto updates the list then I will be a convert.

For those complaining about blurry text, just make sure you have cleartype enabled.

EDIT: Ahhh easy to add a TPL for Fanboys list (the built in ones from MS you can download are very lacking). Go here http://fanboy.co.nz/ie.html and select the "Add TPL" for IE9 option. I'm assuming it updates the TPL automatically once a week the same as it does with the 4 ones that MS provide?
