iPhone 2.0.1 Released

Another thing I have noticed is safari timing out a lot more than it used too, even with full edge, 3g and wireless signal. Still a way to go!

And sure enough, it's taking me multiple attempts to post this..

He is on an 02 simplicity contract but that doesn't seem to be the issue as putting his sim card in my phone the apps work.
Any ideas?
Doubt its that tbh. 2.0.1 is as crap as 2.0 from my experience. I get more app crashes now on my iPhone and my Touch still stutters during playback if I hit the sleep button. I can't win.

Yeah I noticed that too.

There's a good 200+ posts on the Apple forum about apps (or something) apparently bricking iPhones as well, check it out.

Apple "It Just Works", sortof

(iPhone owner before the fanboys go mental)

In 2.0.0 I was experiencing lag, poor signal and just general slugishness.

Upgraded to 2.0.1 today after having some fun with jailbreaking .0 and wow has it made a world of difference!

3G signal has improoved vastly, no more lag, ahhh thank you!

Anyone else noticed that if you have Visual Voicemail open and place your finger over the speaker area covering the Sensers the screen goes black ?

Thought i had a dodgy 3G iphone but tryed it on my old 2G and it's the same only noticed it since the update tho

Just tried this myself...
It's clearly the sensor designed for when you lift the handset up to your ear to turn the screen off... it's kicking in a bit too easily though.

well i used winpwn to pwn itunes updated to 2.0 then I just updated to 2.1 and it itunes said activate the iphone as was on emergency click next a few times and it was done.

Now im guessing here but as it was with itunes pwnd it didnt actually do anything except make itunes think my phone was legit and let me user it....or did I just set myself up for a contract heh.

Well I was told that I can, but I'm not entering CC details into itunes, expected it to just.. work.
I'm pretty sure when I activated my 2G iPhone on 2.0 firmware (O2 simplicity contract) there was an option something along the lines of "I dont want to register an account right now" or something?

edit: I just tried to update and it said 'Update failed (-1)', tried doing a restore but its been stuck on 'Preparing iPhone software for restore...' for about 10mins and doesnt look like its going any where. When I try and turn the iPhone on it just comes up with the connect to iTunes logo :(

edit2: nevermind, 10th times the charm, it restored to 2.0.1 but now it wont restore my backup made today on 2.0. Says its "corrupt or not compatible" :(

I dont suppose its possible to extract the Notes from my old back up which wouldnt restore?

edit3: Correct me if I'm wrong but 2.0 didn't support Office 2008 documents (.docx etc) and now 2.0.1 seems to, which is useful!

Yep, if your on O2 you might not even have to pwn it.

Ive got an 02 contract but not an iPhone one. I have an unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2g 16gb. 1.14 firmware.

what do i do? can i update the firmware via iTunes and then the phone will still work with things like installer etc? or do i have to do something with ZiPhone?

ZiPhone doesn't support V2 at all.

As your running an O2 contract you do not need to unlock.

Just restore to 2.0.1 in iTunes and all will be fine.

CR.

Yesterday I successfully Jailbroke my ZiPhone'd 1.1.4 2G iPhone to 2.0.1 using WinPwn. I was lucky enough to have it work first time. I didn't do any special before hand, I went straight from Jailbroken 1.1.4 to Jailbroken 2.0.1, just simply followed the guide posted earlier in the thread, the only addition being increasing the root partition to 520mb.

Hope that helps the people with Jailbroken 2G's :)
