iPhone 2.0.1 Released

I remember we got the iPhone at the same time lol. seems months ago now. Anyway, just update via iTunes and it will still be jailbroken and unlocked but running 2.0.1?

It won't be jailbroken or unlocked but Im 99% sure it will stick activate and work because you have an O2 sim and they are now allowed.

If you want jailbrake you have to pwn 2.0.1 using pwnage tool and select that your on a official/allowed contract.

Yeah quite a few people's location doesnt work properly on 2.0.1 including mine, quite irritating as a fair few apps do use it!

My boss has an 8gb 2G iPhone that is currently on 2.0.1. Never been unlocked or jailbroken. He used it with an iPhone contract for ages and got the upgrade the other day for free.

He wants me to unlock it and jailbreak it and stick it on eBay. Its pristine!!!! Can i downgrade to 1.1.4 and will it achieve a better price running on 1.1.4 than 2.0.1?

ok back to slow texting again...... this is really annoying! they really need to fix this issue.

seems to be when replying to a text or when texting a person after missing a call from them (through that menu option)

At first I thought the update had gone ok but then the same old problems became apparent. The locate me function did not work at first but then started to work for no apparent reason. The whole OS is now flaky and laggy and I can't believe that a) Apple could produce something this poor and b) that they would think it was ok to release it to the public.

If the same instructions work for going from 2.0 to 1.1.4 then I will be going back pretty soon. There is not enough in the new firmware for me to make it worth keeping.

It seems to me, most of the problems seem to be occuring for people moving from 1.1.4 to 2.0.0 on 2G iPhones rather than those starting fresh on 3G iPhones.

Location now works for me, I downloaded Twinkle, said allow location to find me and now it works. Will try it in the car later to see if its working properly!

Strange, just tested mine and location is working for me too. Maybe it relies on a central server or something?

anyone?

Let me get my crystal ball out...

You know you could probably find out the answer to this in less than 5 minutes just by searching for "completed listings" for iPhones on you-know-where.

The actual answer is: there is no definitive answer. Whether or not a prospective buyer would want 2.0.1 on there unlocked already, or whether he/she would prefer 1.1.4 - is anyones guess.

iPhone updating

Here's a really strange one. I've just updated the firmware on my V1 iPhone, it previously had V2.0 firmware on it, nothing strange there I hear you say. I updated to 2.01 the same way as I updated from 1.1.4 to 2.0, I updated the firmware in itunes leaving my Vodafone sim installed expecting to have to use WinPwn to unlock it again, but no need everything was working fine, when I go to settings > general > about > version shows 2.0.1(5B108)

I was under the impression I would have to unlock it again
