iPhone 2.0 firmware available now

Sorry for a stupid question but does the new 2.0 software accept all O2 sims including simplicity ?

In other words, is jailbreakin now needed ?

Thats what im wondering lol, have itunes installed. but gotta wait for a mate to goto his at lunch time to borrow a cable, Mine is at home :(

So if someone can 100% confirm this will work with a simplicity sim that would be cool

hmmm, not sure i will bother calling them lol.

Been using the sim in my 2.5g iphone for the last 3 months with no issues. Just gotta wait for my mate here at work to come back from lunch with the cable so i can update it to 2.0

Hope Ziphone gets the jailbreak sorted and released asap lol will probably miss a lot of my games and such.

ignore all that!!

Scary moment, You have to go through itunes as as if you were activating the phone when you first upgrade to 2.0 odd!! Had me worried for a while

Put simply, yes. As long as you have an O2 SIM of any sort, the phone will activate on the new firmware.

However, some of us, myself included, had problems when restoring their old settings as part of the firmware upgrade. I had to do a restore to get things working. For that reason, I'm tempted to say download the new firmware, then perform a restore, rather than an upgrade. I believe that'll put the latest firmware on as part of the restore process. Make sure you've copied photos/contacts etc. first though. The only thing I lost were my text messages.

I swear when I first bought my iPhone I never had one glitch with it not even the most tiniest of problems however ever since I first updated the firmware It's just had more and more bugs in it and this latest 2.0 firmware is the worst yet.

I'm having so many problems with it from not being able delete emails when viewing the email to the unlock click not sounding when I unlock the phone to it taking forever to illuminate the screen If I've received a text whilst the phone is locked.

I cant wait to get my hands on the new 3G one as hopefully with it being brand new and untouched I'll have no issues with it and I'd even be tempted not to upgrade the firmware in future unless there's something major that I want.

Anyone else notice issues typing text messages with the new firmware? Most of the time, when I go to write a text, typing is very unresponsive. If I exit and re-open SMS, it usually works fine on the second try. This is after a full restore, so not sure what more I can do...

This firmware is awfully buggy. I should state that I'm using it on my gf's ipod touch, rather then the iphone. Essentially the same thing though.

I've only been using it a few hours and it is horribly slow and clunky. Scrolling the contacts list is a nasty experience, typing in general is unresponsive as mentioned above. Urgh, and my touch is currently installing the sodding thing lol :/

I wonder if the firmware is purposely like this to foil those who cracked 2.0? 2.0.1 would shirley undo all that work.

Another issue which I have encountered...

The Locate me on google maps (using iPhone 2G), doesnt seem to work anymore for me. And many other people have been complaining on apple forums etc.

Some 3G users have encountered this issue as well...
Whats the deal with the OCUK users?
