Why bother going to try them, they all do it

Apparently not. Some people in here are saying they are unable to replicate the issue no matter what they do?

They are either A) Lying, or B) Have a handset immune to the fault. Or more likely C) have no clue what they are talking about.

Or D) Are in a strong signal area where it's not noticeable.

I've only managed to get signal to drop completely once, and that was by employing a death grip on the phone in a way that I'll never be wanting to hold it...

Other than that the signal just drops a bit if I hold it slightly wrong, but the normal way I hold the phone (left hand or right hand) doesn't affect it at all.

I agree with Feek that it's been blown out of proportion.

I've just tried one of the work ones and by doing similar to what you mentioned was the only way to decrease the signal - by one bar.

I've no reason to lie, it's not my iphone and I don't particularly like Apple as a company or Steve Jobs.

Fact remains, the iphone here in the office works fine.

I would try the other iphone I have here, but the SIM I butchered only works in one of the two phones :p

Just because it doesn't affect you, it doesn't mean its been blown out of proportion. If I hold my phone to use the web, I lose all bars. I've even had numerous dropped calls. Yes I'm with AT&T but I live in an area that's exceptionally well covered.

So kindly, just because you're ok, don't patronize others who do indeed have a serious issue with this device.

Which is fine if you have full signal, if you only have a few bars then you cant afford to lose signal a bit as you will have none.

This is where the problem sets in, I assume by that you mean you have a strong signal (by well covered).

So it probably isn't linked to that?

Who knows.

I agree with what you said here about people saying it is blown out of proportion, people need to stop this frankly stupid blind defence of Apple.

How are people defending this? at all?

Fair enough if you don't have a problem phone, or you live in an area and move around in an area with signal so strong that it does not degrade no matter how you to hold it. However, that is not a defence. The fact of the matter is that there is a blatant design flaw here. It applies to enough phones to stop me getting one. It is not like it is isolated and the chance of getting problematic one is low. I tried 3 in the Apple store and they all presented with the same fault).

If you have to change the way you hold the phone then you acknowledge there is a problem but accepted it. I do not accept that, why would anyone accept that? You spend all that money on it, don't you want it to be perfect? We are not talking about something minor here, the phone struggles to make phone calls simply by picking it up! I will not be fob off with "change the way I hold my phone". I will hold it every damn way I feel thank you very much, nor will I accept getting a £25 bumper as a solution. What if I want to use it as it is out of the box? A £10 phone doesn't need to any after thought fix, why should a £600 phone? Frankly, if Apple accept the bumper IS a solution then the consumer does not need to pay for that solution from his own wallet. Even if this can be fixed with the bumper, I am voting with my wallet by not getting it until they fix it. Out of principle.

I like apple stuff, but I hate this phone, and the company is losing respect by the minute.

I've just been on the blower to voda as my sim hasn't yet activated since I got the phone first thing thursday morning.

I wasn't given a 'temporary' number from Vodafone until my number was transferred from O2, which apparently I should have. So as a result, the lady (3rd person I spoke to) on the phone told me it wouldn't work until Monday.

Not a huge deal for me, albeit a tad disappointing, but as a new customer to vodafone they aren't endearing themselves to me from a technical standpoint, the people on the phone were helpful however, if it wasn't for the fact their network speeds on my ipad, using a chopped up SIM were very impressive I'd be a little more annoyed.

Guess its just a waiting game.

As for the signal issues, obviously I cant test that as yet, but Im not overly worried due to the fact I rarely make/receive calls, im on the lowest plan. As I think it was Feek that said its just mainly a computer on the move for me.

It's weird.

If I hold my phone to use the web (just simply hold, not trying to shield the damn thing), go all the way down to no bars here at work. Even only touch the left and right together (not the bottom) makes it do it.

Yet elsewhere in work it doesn't do it, and at home this morning I could only make it lose one bar and that was by deliberately covering the whole phone!
