*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

where does he get "notably thinner" from? they look the same to me. I'd say the speaker is a slightly better design in that there's less chance an idle finger could silence it but apart from that ......... it's a little bit bigger

It is quite a bit thinner. If you look the 5 it's as thin as the metal band around the edge, where as on the 4 the glass sticks out each side

Is this thing due in september or october?

Rumour (and be sure to read that its a rumour and in no way confirmed) is an announcement on the 12th with release on the 21st of September. Although I think if it is the 12th then gadget news blogs should be getting invites in the next couple of days!

I want my 5, hurry up! My 4 is getting tired and the home button is definitely on the way out, hope they have done some work on that this time as it seems a persistent problem on the models since the 3G (and before?)

I hope I dont prove to be wrong here but theres been a lack of IOS6 Beta's... The reason for this I HOPE is that apple have thrown in some software suprises that they maybe are hoping will save this iphone 5 mixed reception (if current leaks are proven to be real)

Its a good hint that perhaps a UI design refresh may still come. There are hints of this with the phone app and the ipod/store looks..

Pulling at strings but I hope it turns out to be true.

Indeed. I hope they do something "interesting" with the extra screen "real-estate" (hate that word), having an extra row of icons would be pretty dull to say the least :P

Yeah but the metal band is thicker on the 5. It might be thinner but it must be a tiny amount if it is.

The new one has this new in-cell screen thingy which reduces the number of layers required to produce a touchscreen - thus reducing the overall depth and weight.

I'd say fake. As a picture is shown of a prompt to plug it into iTunes to activate even though that was done away with in iOS5

Oh yeah I forgot about that, although the actual phone itself looks real, some time you still get that connect to itunes thing though if its been corrupted or wiped?

Has anyone seen this

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...switched-bigger-screen.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

The guy has the prototype and switches it on, looks pretty real to me.

The video is towards the bottom of the page

Not sure if that's real but the screen shape just looks really awkward. I just wish they had backed down on their 300+ ppi thing and stretched it out to 4.3" it would looks fine. A long screen with centred apps for the foreseeable doesn't sound too good.

Doubt its real, why is it asking to be connected to iTunes when neither new 4 or 4s' since the IOS update ask for it anymore?
I assume its running the new IOS as default, which would make it even more strange for it to go 'back to those ways'

My thoughts exactly.

because its a prototype ? and only people with cable can actually test it out?

I know previous models have been quite hard to come by around release date but is that the same story for sim free models direct from Apple or is it just normally the networks doing contracts that have had waiting lists?
