*** iPhone 5 - Revealed! ***

Cheers, just had a look. The 12 month ones are shocking value! Looks like sim free is the way to go. I guess getting one sim free will only be possible at an apple store on launch day?

Yeah, unless places like the CPW are going to sell them SIM free.

Being in the front half of an Apple store queue is going to be your best bet I think.

Might be worth a punt at CPW I guess, but I really hate them with a passion. The only apple store near ish to me is in Cambridge I think and that's 45 mins away. Would probably have to get there at midnight to stand a chance of getting one, lol.

So guys how does the iphone 5 compare to the S3 or the HTC One X?

Are Apples claims that it is the thinest phone correct?

I don't think it's the thinnest phone in the world (ZTE have some that are thinner), but it's the thinnest phone you're ever likely to see at the moment, the others may not be on sale.

As for how it compares to them, it's - being very vague - roughly on par with them, depending on what things you value, like screen size, software, etc.

Am I correct in thinking that the PAYG iPhones direct from Apple. As in just buying the phone with no contract, will come with nano-SIM for 3, O2 and Vodafone?

The wording on their website:

With Pay as you go, your iPhone arrives ready to use. There’s no contract, so no credit check is needed. That means you can change network whenever you want and you only pay for what you use.

Pay as you go is available for some iPhone models at the Apple Online Store with the following carriers: 3, O2, Vodafone

If you choose Pay as you go when you buy a new iPhone from the Apple Online Store, it will arrive with a micro-SIM or nano-SIM pre-loaded with call minutes, texts and data. (Pay as you go SIM cards may not be available for all iPhone models.) Or you can get a micro-SIM or nano-SIM card from any carrier offering iPhone plans.

I never saw any option to select a carrier or add a PAYG option when purchasing. My iPhone 3GS came with an O2 SIM.

Just wondering if I'll be able to get hold of a nano-SIM some other way for when it arrives.

edit: Never mind; it only gives you more information on the iPhone 5 order page.

You can buy the unlocked iPhone at the Apple Online Store without a SIM or add a Pay as you go starter pack from one of the available carriers (Pay as you go starter packs are currently not available for the iPhone 5).

When I ordered on Friday from Vodafone they said I would get £10 credit if the phone was not delivered on launch day, and an additional £10 for every week it's delayed after that.

Spoke to Vodafone yesterday as I hadn't received any confirmation since I ordered Friday about 4pm. Was told that the system was overloaded and so there was a delay in processing the orders. The guy put mine through manually, that was about 5.30pm yesterday. Had some confirmations today with the second email saying an estimated delivery date of Monday 24th. Will be raging if that turns out to be true.

Well you ordered the day after orders launched - Id be glad to get it only a few days after launch tbh. Direct orders with Apple were already 2-3weeks by Friday lunchtime, so even if your original order went through you were probably lucky to get it on the 21st...

ps3ud0

I ordered Friday midday but didn't receive confirmation until this morning with Vodafone. I received both emails at the same time, with the second stating an estimated delivery of Friday.
