iPhone 6+ bendgate issue.

If you lay the phone on a flat surface face down (so the screen is facing the surface) does it rock a little?

No, but like I say if I take my debit card and put the thin edge on my phone it doesn't sit totally flush like it does on my desk.

Just checked my 6 plus, and the edge of a ruler does not sit flush, definately slightly bent/warped  Also notice part of the screen isn't flush anymore and is ever so slightly raised above the body. Only been in front pocket of jeans and pants.

No one is defending it, they're just not believing the click bait. When someone actually does a scientific test and find a weakness I'm not buying it. Other phones can, and have bent whilst in people's pockets.

Sure there are and it seems to be the same people, it's a pretty defensive position to take when there's people on the forum saying there's a problem with their phone. Unless you're saying they're liars or idiots?

The matter is incredibly simple, either it's been designed well enough so it can take normal use or it's been badly designed and bends easily. Looking at how easily it bent out of shape it looks like poor design, the kind of thing you'd reasonably expect from a budget phone and not one of the most expensive.

What I find laughable are the people who are suddenly calling people "stupid" for putting phones in their pockets.

Large screen phones are not a new thing, and there has not been mass hysteria of android devices bending.

I'd say it's pretty common for guys to put phones in their jeans. It's not as if the phones are being used in unrealistic scenarios to try and produce faults.

Let's face it, regardless of genuine quality control issues, apple has die hard fans that refuse to ever believe anything could be wrong with any of their products.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying there is an inherent fault/problem with the new iphone. I'm not qualified to say and frankly I don't care. What concerns me is the people who are so attached to manufacturers that they can see no negative and defend their products as if their life depends on it.

These people are everywhere, whether it's apple nutters, or samsung crazies or console fanboys. It's ridiculous. I couldn't care less who makes something, I buy whatever suits my needs. Yet there are people so loyal that they refuse to see merits in other products.

I knew there was a reason I loved plastic phones :D

In all seriousness, I think it's one of those things that will be forgotten about in a few weeks time once people stop trying to find all the flaws :)

Well I returned mine back for a full refund and was asked why.I told the unhappy looking Apple guy to Google Apple 6 bendgate on the nearest iMac.The look on his his face was a picture.:D

Why would anyone want to put such a large item in their pocket anyway, wallets for us guys aren't generally that large as anything larger would be uncomfortable so why put a large phone in your jeans or trouser pocket.

Excerpt from news paper article quote

'It's obvious of course that practically any smartphone will bend if you apply enough pressure - there were similar reports of Sony's Xperia Z1 warping earlier this year - but unfortunately for Apple, the prestige (and price) of their devices means any fault is taken far more seriously than those of their rivals'

Exactly this, so again no one cares if it's a Sony or LG, Samsung etc but because it's Apple lets all jump on the band wagon and crucify them. iPhone 6's aren't bending just 6+ seems to be getting the flack, yet Squaretrade insurance have just done their tests and they are happy with iPhone 6 versions.

Any manufacturer gets bashed when their so called premium products fail to meet the grade, so I dont know why youre mentioning bias towards Apple bashing! They price themselves at the top of the market so its a long way to fall. This is probably making such big news because there are still many people waiting for this handset, and to hear news like this is disconcerting to say the least, its not like anybody is saying lol apple

Where else would you put it?
Had a bigger phone in my pocket for what 6months and it's still straight. Lumina 1320.
It's not uncomfortable. It certainly looks like a design issue, rather than hype (antenna gate was so over hyped)

It's ridiculous saying people shouldn't put it in your pocket.
It's not the only device with such issue. Surface2 is similar with it being easy to bend around the dock port.

This is interesting. I think it's likely a mixture of a potentially weaker than ideal design but also the way some people have their phones in their pockets.

There were many instances where the iPhone 5 and 5s bent, mostly when being shoved into a very tight jeans pocket (or similar). Then people would sit for hours which could potentially cause the aluminium to warp.

I think the same thing is happening here but it's worse because the phone is larger (causing more pressure) and also thinner, while being made of the same materials as the 5/5s.

If you put an iPhone 6+ in your back pocket and then sit on it, you're asking for problems, with any phone... that isn't wise at all (to put it politely).

All in all though, if you don't try and squeeze the phone into a pocket that is clearly too small for it, you shouldn't have a problem. A case with a rigid frame would most likely negate this as well.

It's not really ideal, though.

Another reason why I still prefer the 4-4s design and why I maintain time and time again I want a smaller phone. I lay on the floor under an engine for example with my 4s in a pocket and have no issues at all. These larger aluminium phones would be in tatters if I tried to do that. In fact I only have to look at the state of peoples 5/5s at work to know that :D

I'd rather pay £500 for a better battery and slightly better chip in a 4s frame than £550 for the latest version :(

Are you seriously asking why someone would want to put their phone in their pocket? Pause for a moment and consider why you're asking such a question.

That is not the issue, all devices are built with certain tolerances in mind be it a toy car or a steel girder and it doesn't reflect badly on Apple, Samsung or whoever if in extreme situations their device becomes damaged.

What does reflect badly on them is if their device has problems under normal conditions. We have people on the forum saying their phone is bent from normal use, that sounds (emphasis on the sounds) like poor design.

It's also not what you expect from a company which goes to such great lengths to extol the virtues of its design standards.
