iPhone Case

Got round to taking some pics of my Griffin case:

It's not soft leather, it's a thin plastic case which is covered with leather (real). So it offers good drop protection too.

That's exactly what I went for (even comes with an OK screen protector). The plastic is a polycarbonate and while I haven't dropped it with the iphone in i'm pretty sure it's not going to spring apart like some of the cases i've seen I'm starting to think an Invisible Shield would be a better bet though as I could still dock it with the holder as opposed to lead only.

I still prefer the look of my case :p

I really cant decide on what one to get, like the inCase ones but cant seem to find a UK seller, so gone for this Marware Sport Grip:

For £6 +p+p it should be OK for now until I can get a decent one, hopefully it fits OK.

Don't know. My other half always has hers on silent and I don't have a sim in mine. I'll let someone else test it for you as I'm nursing a migraine at the moment.

I'd say the fabric is thick enough to protect it but thin enough for calls to be ok.

edit:

Just tried it now. Barely makes a difference to the ringing volume and it's still very clear.

Z0mbi3, in your judgement how tight is the fit on those foofpods? I know that's a subjective thing, but I'm hoping that it's easy to get the phone out of the case quickly, unlike at the moment with my ipod socks that have to stretch to fit.

Fitted my invisibleshield a few days ago, I'm really happy with it, only problems are that the back doesn't really fit properly (leaves a fold sticking out in each corner) But the front is amazing, I think im gonna get a bigger case for when it goes in my pocket though, but its nice not worrying about scratching it.

It's tight fitting but not elasticated so it won't slip out when you don't want it to, but it won't give you any resistance when you need to get it out.

This video should help you get the idea:

I dunno if they've changed the production process, but my FoofPod was so tight I hardly could get the iPhone out on some occassions.

Yes, it was an iPhone-specific Foof, and it dampened the volume significantly (which to be fair, is LOW anyway).

Have a word with them because that's not right.

Cheers for taking the trouble to make that video Z0mbi3, makes things a lot clearer. Only searched on YouTube yesterday for foofpods to find nothing!

Glad it helped. Really pleased with mine, I can stick the iPhone in my pocket or in the car's cup holder without worrying about it getting scratched or full of lint.

To be fair I use my iPhone as a touch rather than a phone, but my other half has a sim in hers and she says it doesn't make a big difference to answering calls.

i am still in 2 minds about the foofpods, 3 things really concern me.

1 - it's in a bag, so the volume will be muffled.
2 - i need to get it out everytime i need to use it, and how quickly can i grab that out of my pocket and then pull it out of the foofpod while walking?
3 - When i get it out is the most likely time i will drop it and it's not in a bag......making the bag useless.

I tested the volume on mine and it really wasn't a problem. Trouble is the iPhone is a quiet phone in general.

I see them as being more for protection from being in your pocket or from knocking about in the car. Fair enough you want to protect your nice phone from a drop when you're using it, but all the skins and most of the cases out there that will do that will make it look like crap. Any skins that are thin enough to not effect the looks much probably won't provide much protection anyway.

I reckon you'd do well to get one of those leather cases that fold open.
