iphone down to £169

Hmm. The speed worries me for browsing when out and about. I really want the iPhone, but still cant justify switching from my Nokia 6120c to it.

6120c:

Good: -
3G
Opera web browser
Youtube app
£5 unlimited browsing on 3 (locked to 3)

Bad: -
No wifi
Doesn't look as good
Locked to a pretty bad Pay&Go tariff (i.e. no free texts/mins)

---------------------------------------------------------------

iPhone:

Good: -
Looks brilliant
Safari
Wifi
Decent O2 Pay&Go tariff (free texts)

Bad: -
2G/EDGE
£7.50 for unlimited (200mb) browsing

Do you mean realistically wont run or it actually technically cannot do it?

You can't go to the actual youtube site, there is a youtube app that comes with the iphone that allows you to go through all the youtube videos. This will only work if you're connected via wifi, otherwise you'll get an error message.

I thought you could watch Youtube videos using the app on the Home Screen anywhere with EDGE:confused:

You can - lower bitrate though.

For anyone wanting to watch Youtube videos when you haven't got connectivitiy, mxTube allows you to download and save videos for playback whenever you like.

Just been to my local shop and got one and I'm very happy to say the least :)

I feel like a kid at Christmas!

P.s. this is my 1st post from my iPhone.

Well I Pwnaged me phone last night. Had a few issues but thats because the phone didn't seem to have the 1.4 firmware out of the box. So put it in restroe mode got the firmware off of Macrumours (had issues downloading it from tunes) did the restore then used the Pwnage tool with no probs. One thing though is i wanted to add custom boot and restore screens but it said the png was invalid?? Also I have a circle with 2 hands like a clock pointing at 9 near the battery indicator, what is this?

Wait for the 3G version, hopefully that will be 3 compatible.

The 3G one would be better. But knowing Apple the price will be extortionate. £169 is a very attractive price and would never really want to pay more. Which basically means the 3G version is out the window.

I can only get 2G in my area, but its more out and about im concerned with cause i have wifi in the house anyway.

I think it's safe to say the new iPhone won't be £169 ;)

Yea i know its impossible that it will be anywhere near as low. I can easily afford the £169, but just dont know if i really need it. And i know in June if i dont get it, ill kick myself to death :(

My Mum always says if we only bought what we needed, we'd all be miserable.

She makes a good point :D

Its the governments money as well (EMA from college), so technically its free money for doing easy college work lol.

I've only played with one once last year, so I think ill take a trip into town and try one out.

It's not free, I've paid for it !
:p

Which PAYG sim would cover EDGE? I'd be looking at getting a new sim for it anyway but i was looking at the 02 simplicity plan, just worried about not using it to it's capacity etc. Also with the 02 simplicity, does it still have to be unlocked?

The phone needs to be unlocked for any sim other than the selected iPhone tariffs to be able to work, even O2.

I think any sim will be enabled for EDGE. A PAYG sim + O2 web bolt-on for £7.50/pm would cover the internet costs.
