iphone down to £169

I think it's safe to say the new iPhone won't be £169 ;)
But doesn't it make you wonder how much better the new one will be if they've knocked 1/3 off the price of the existing one? Also makes you wonder just how much of a profit Apple are making per unit!

When they release the new iPhone will the price of old ones not drop even further, say below £169?

The price will rise after 1st June, which is the rumoured time for the 3G version to be released. So they will evently drop, but probably not for awhile after the new version.

You can text WEB to 21300 or call 2425 from your mobile to add it. Hope that helps :)

and then that just takes £7.50 a month off the credit? what will happen if i don't have £7.50 on there at the time? Also can i just go into the o2 shop at the same time i buy a iphone and buy a PAYG o2 sim aswell :P

Yeah it's probably going to be better, but I've had mine for a few months, so not too fussed.

Yeah that's fair enough, I was more thinking about people umming and ahhing now about whether to wait for iPhone v2 or buy the current discounted one.

It takes £7.50 of your topup credit and if you dont have £7.50, then it wont take anything off.

Is there any other special features coming out for the new 3G iPhone? Or is it not even confirmed to be released yet?

Went into an O2 shop today to have a play but it didn't really strike me as much of an upgrade to what I already have, and it seemed like it had less functionality than my N73 and a worse camera.

I'm not really sold on it yet.

I went from a N73 (and still have it for GPS lol) to an iphone and i prefer the camera on the iphone any day of the week.

My n73 produced horrible photos with a wierd purple pink hue over them :)

lol woopsie.

The phone needs to be unlocked for any sim other than the selected iPhone tariffs to be able to work, even O2.

I think any sim will be enabled for EDGE. A PAYG sim + O2 web bolt-on for £7.50/pm would cover the internet costs.

Just to make everyone aware, an O2 PAYG sim will not provide EDGE, only GPRS. Also you can only retrieve email from o2 email addresses. Seems like O2 want to cripple their PAYG internet service - hopefully this will change soon!

Any idea on which PAYG sims allow EDGE?

EDIT: just to confirm, the O2 web bolt on only provides GPRS?

Yes O2 web bolt on with PAYG is GPRS / 3G, but not EDGE.

I think Orange have some Edge coverage, from what I've read - though I think O2 are the only network with widespread EDGE coverage (which was increased specifically for the iphone).

It seems the only real option is O2 Simplicity with the internet bolt-on, which is at cheapest £22.50 a month.

Really? When you say about receiving emails, do you mean using the Mail app on the iPhone? I thought you could configure it for POP email providers like Gmail etc.

So, the o2 simplicity with the net bolt on covers EDGE, which i'm assuming is hella faster than GPRS and is required for youtube?

so if i was to go with the PAYG option how slow would the net be on GPRS?

and finally, is it possible if i was to go into the O2 shop at the same time as buying the iphone and then buy the o2 simplicity plan with the web bolt on IN the shop?

thanks!

Just found this:

http://www.malcolmhall.com/?p=139

Which would make it seem that you can use EDGE on O2 Pay&Go sim cards. The iPhone detects an O2 sim card so it has pre-set settings for the Internet because it thinks its a contract sim and assumes you wont need to edit them. But in fact you do need to using the above guide.
