No offense but that theme looks awful (sort of what like you'd see on say a Windows Mobile device! ;) )

I agree that the Jailbreak community has done a lot of what Apple could have given us but then again they don't have the constraints that Apple do, for example tethering would violate their agreement with AT&T et al.

Agree. The theme looks tacky as hell. Take one of the best designed UI's on any phone and spoil it with a tacky wallpaper and Windows Mobile buttons.
 
Tethering would be useful, personally I think Bluetooth File Transfer would be brilliant (depending on if it's the software that neuters the Bluetooth module, or the module itself is limited), and thus sync data (but not media, too slow) using iTunes/iSync.

Also, as a small interaction change, is anyone else annoyed that they have to get their phone out of their pocket to change tracks? I'm pretty fussy with music and tend to flick about a lot, so why not change the behavior of the volume buttons; one press up or down changes track, a long hold increases or decreases volume? Just an idea :)

It was - got pulled from the App Store but those who had bought it got to keep it. It's DRM attached to my iTunes account.

I gather there are a couple of jailbreak-land tethering apps, anyway..
 
Im confused.
Is 3.0 ment to be a OS update only, or are we expecting another iPhone as well that it'll only work with?

Is that 100% confirmed though?
As ive heard equal numbers of rumors of a new iPhone as i have of an iPhone Nano.
 
It's highly possible that 3.0 is gonna be available to the iPhone 3G as well, because that was the same with the 1st generation when 2.0 was released.

But I think that the final release is gonna take some time, because the dev team is also working on OS X 10.6. 10.5 was also delayed because of the iPhone OS.

But if Apple is smart, they should release a new iPhone at the beginning of the 2010. When the 3G was released, most people immediately bought the 3G and took a 2 year subscription. When it expires in mid 2010, these customers can immediately extend their subscription with the newer iPhone. If it's gonna be released sooner, then it's not a new gadget anymore. And therefore it might only attract Apple fans.
 
It's what engadget call the iPhone. Some kind of running joke about it being the perfect phone because its from apple.

The only thing stopping me from getting a "JesusPhone" is the possibility of a new one being released this June/July.

If they said a new one wasn't going to be released until next year, I'd grab one tomorrow :p
