iphone!?

Apparently Bluetooth on the iPhone can only be used for headsets. No file transfer, modem use, PC sync, etc.

So it appears that Iphone isn't really that smart then.

More a souped up standard phone. Only smartphone feature on it is the Wifi + proper browser. Most phones come with camera,mp3 player + email + basic web browsing in any case.

Obviously you'd only buy for the UI, looks, style etc in any case.

I've even heard that the browser is pretty poor, and doesn't support the latest web standards or FLASH  .

Not the best for a 'proper' browser, ha.

For the 3 devices listed above, you can use opera which is supposed to be the best.
In fact the browser on the p990i has tabbed browsing which is excellent. N80 S60v3 browser did the best rendering (possibly because of the high res screen). IE in WM5 wasn't best at all, I've tested opera beta on the PDA and it made excellent use of the VGA screen.

I wonder if you will be able to come out of your 12month contact and onto a new one for this when it comes to the UK. i believe AT&T allowed it.

As for price i see this thing coming in at £300-400 on top of a £45p/m contract

Rumour is that carphone warehouse will have a distribution deal, so there may be unlocked handsets available.

It seems a very flimsy phone to me a lot like the lg prada, which a freind of mine had i think it last about 3 weeks befor the screen borked.

Just another gimmick me thinks.

Stick with nokia id say.

As much as I love Fisher Price, or Nokia as you call them, the iPhone has already been approved as a sturdy phone. Infact, if you look at the videos and reviews of people trying to take it apart they had a hell of a time. Couple that with the youtube review of the guy who put it in a bag of keys and change then shook / scrunched it around I'd say that the iPhone breaking is waaaaay down on peoples worry lists :)

That was the rumour for the announcement on Monday which didn't happen. I think we'll probably hear something at MWSF08 now.

woohoo my o2 contract runs out at the time of the 'supposed' iPhone release, wonder if they will upgrade me to it for free??

Not sure who's going to buy it at that price, seems far too high for the UK market especially considering that it will be on at least an 18 month contract at about £40-50 pm going by the US prices.
