iRacing

im getting slightly annoyed with racing in this game, i just cant keep away from idiots..

i started so well now going down hill...

Stick some on youtube please, helps ease the frustration I find.

I know it is easier said than done, but I hang back at the starts, watch the carnage (which to be fair, there are only a handfull of twonks per race) then dodge them. By the end of the first lap, most of the clowns have disconnected.

We are all "rookies" though and I think many of the new guys need to learn race etiquette as if coming from an arcade background it will all be new to them.

I am surprised how many people "lose it" though if a new guy makes a genuine mistake.

Cannon simulation technologies, well that's the company name, made by a guy called Todd Cannon, basically seem from all accounts to be the ultimate in sim pedals, with a price tag to match (~$4-600 depending on spec)

yeah i try that mate but i seem to be like a magnet to it atm.

to be fair i am still making mistakes in the fast cars but ive had some bad bad races the last few days...

think ive been playing it too much aswell ive proper been hammering it, but mainly practice and testing but i need more race time to try judge peeps aswell...

i probably ranked up to c class too fast aswell but as this is week 13 ive been racing the HPD and that probably wasnt a good move, in fact come to think of it ive been messing up since using it on tuesday i was fine in the star mazda and radical which are c class..

lol i just ordered a new monitor aswell for it...

a BenQ XL2420T ill get another 2 when i get more room...

but im back on my old 23" tv as ive sold my monitor and the picture quality is really bad.iracing is hard on it, its a very rough picture...

The graphics engine is definitely much better coded than rf2, being able to run at 1920x1080 with 32xAA + 8xSS Transparency AA at constant 84fps (limited) is a nice jaggie-free experience on a 50" plasma... I would just really like them to do something about the sense of speed.

thats just a fov issue, adjust it in the menu

on a side note, iracing actually has the best triple screen support of any game i've tried, the 'render each screen seperately' option is amazing, no fisheye effect just high fov and no distortion, 3D vision surround is even better

you should try the f1 car then mate see if that gives you the sense of speed cos that's rapid...

good crack in the fun races aswell...

I have, of course the corners arrive quicker - but there's no sense that the vehicle is going any faster than the mx5 (other than the corners arriving quicker and being able to go faster round them...)

rF2, p cars have much better effects for that... my personal favourite for that specific effect is the way Forza 4 handles it

I wish it was - have played with the setting quite a bit.

I will have to give 3D a go though...

You can install iRacing as many times as you like, you're only allowed in one session at once though (although technically I believe you can start an offline practice and then remove network)

crinkleshoes, whilst the sense of speed may not be amazing, the F1 car definitely feels a hell of a lot faster than the MX-5, both single and triple monitors, can't remember fov when running a single monitor but it's around 140 now...

wow I totally disagree mate the f1 cars feel rapid to me...

does iracing support nvidia 3d?

also how many pcs can I have my iracing on???

As many as you want! I have it on my laptop and gaming PC.

The sense of speed thing is quite poor, i look at the speedo sometimes and its like 170mph in the C6R and it feel like im doing 40mph. I have triple screens with a FOV of around 125

It's probably such an issue because I'm much more experienced on track than I am in a game/sim... so the lack of sense of speed makes it even harder for me to adjust to. There are a lot of other games that communicate the sense of speed much better.

Sorry - seems like I'm always negative about this game... the reason is, I like the general structure (even if I'm not the biggest fan of SR) and would like to be able to enjoy it.

How do you join a hosted session and I'll try to jump on when I get back home?

Do we need the name of the session?

Suppose also, can rookies like me jump in?

Cheers...

any licence level can join, you will need all content though.

To find it go to the iracing main page, then Hosted -> Join a Race

In that list there will be johnny's session, click the green button, enter the password, and then click join as per every other session :)
