I'm the same. I cannot wait to experience the carnage. It really will change how the 45 minute IMSA races for example will go. No longer will taking 2 or 4 tyres be worth it. Even in some of the endurance races where tyre where is less severe will have cars not changing tyres.

Have to say, GTP feels fantastic. I think it felt great last season on this v10 tyre apart from the crazy grip, but they feel amazing now. I had been flirting with LMU a bit but I would say that iRacing hypercars feel better after this update, just needs the hybrid next season and we're pretty much there I think. New lighting looks great too.

Warmup is obviously quite severe coming out of the pits, but I think getting just a little bit of heat in to them on the pace lap means they are kinda OK in races, even at Spa with a short start. No danger of being ran over by P2/GT3 at starts anyway.

Yea the tyre feels good on them and LMP2, they need to work on the GT3 tyre as a matter of urgency because they are not on the level of LMUs GT3s.

New ARCA car seems great, driving it around Portland was fun as was ripping it on the high line at Kansas

Yeah I gave the Caddy a try at Spa yesterday and it's night and day from last season in a good way. No more sends from orbit on GT3s because of the much reduced grip...well I hope not anyway

The P2 still feels great which i'm very relieved about, the new tyres last season as well as the 2024 spec changes did slow it down but it's still great to drive

v10 tyres cannot come soon enough, it will transform every car in a good way if these v9.7 tyres are anything to go by

The tyres "turn on" very quickly at Spa. You should try Sebring. That place is deadly :cry:

How one looks after these tyres when they are new and cold is gonna have heavy implications on how the endure across a stint. Using the iRacing's own high downforce setup in the Caddy around Sebring I pushed hard from the off. Drop off was quick (lap 8) and by lap 16/17 I was down to 70% on the rear left.

We did indeed. P1 in GTP baby!!!

The GTP SoF was 4.0k so quite a bit above my 3.3k iRating. I was on pace in the uber hot conditions but in the cooler temperatures I was much slower. We ran it in the Ferrari 499P (The only one in our split).

Grats! Ours didn't go so well - tbf three of the 4 of the team were making their car debut in LMP2. I qualified 2nd and managed to miss a massive incident before the start of the 1st lap which saw me lead into T1. Did my double and was leading at that point - we did start to go backwards but I had the most experience in the car so I knew that was probably going to happen. Unfortunately one of the lads binned it on two of his outlaps in separate stints meaning a good time of required repairs. Finished 8th in the end but we had fun which is all that matters.

Been there, done that, wore that t-shirt. These things happen but I find the team racing so much more enjoyable than solo’ing stuff.

That win for us was my first official special event win. Took just over a year to get with many misses but success will come.

Are you part of a team or doing it as a bunch of mates? Most teams require a minimum practice count before being allowed to drive. The incidents on cold tyres could have been avoided had the drivers done more practice?

A bit of both I guess - we're a team in a loose sense of the word but it is essentially sim racing mates in a Discord who do some iRacing and special event when we can. I along with one other guy are the most experienced and then we have several others who have varying degrees of time in sim.

The two newest guys are on the slower side - but they did a fair amount of laps and they were fine in traffic and at a comfortable pace generally though I don't think they practiced many outlaps unfortunately. Definitely a learning experience but it's all good.
