ok so gave it a quick go last night just jumping on the test track to set up controls etc...

was a fun few laps of the speedway I did xD does seem like it may be a bit too "serious" for me..... appears that race event are scheduled as opposed to creating random lobbies? could be wrong :p but yea... I think this game might a bit too far on the serious side just from looking at the layout on the website xD might give grid2 a go :p

:) It is a different breed of racing game or dare I say Simulator.

Hey guys, joined IRacing again today ready for my new wheel, thought i would go edit all my cars to a nice colour scheme, and well it wont work lol all i get when i click on the "im ready" to start to painting is "javascript:removeNews();" cant find a single thing at all about it, anyone here know what it is?

Helmet and suit work fine, the cars wont at all, cant even see the list of cars to select them.

When you are in the iRacing news page and logged into your account, when you click Race your car appears for which ever series you have selected. Underneath the picture of the car is the option to paint. Does that link work?

Would love to have a setup like that, but with 3 monitors :)

Rookie road has switched to laguna sec now, that took a bit of practice, the left turn as you go over a peak and down was hard to get under control lol.

What sort of time should I be looking at for mx-5 rookie on laguna seca? managed to get around 1.48-1.50 with a few areas I know I can improve on trying to just get some consistent laps without crashing atm.

This video should help.

I knocked 3 seconds off my time just by trying to copy what this guy can do.

I'm in the low 1:43's now, I've cracked 1:42 in testing but not in anything official.

Bear in mind that the lap below in is the Mazda Cup, the Roadster has different gear ratios.

During a few races last night there were some great guys / racers, nice and polite using the mics well, but also some complete tools. Mainly yanks. Screaming and shouting about how someone was driving incompetently and "dared" to crash and bounce off the oval barriers into the track.

They soon shut up when I stated that this was a rookie race and crashes happen and if they were so great, they would not be in the rookie races and perhaps they were glory seeking agmonst the rookies.

Shame such people exist to ruin some good races.

BTW : It wasn't me causing the rants ;)

You get that all the time in rookie oval races.

I always point out that its rookie racing and they should expect anything to happen, including bad driving.

You'll notice a lot of the whining comes from D licence drivers with the orange tabs on the back of their car. They get out of rookie, but either can't compete in D licence races because if a lack of skill or lack of content. But they come back to rookie and suddenly expect it to have magically changed and that everyone is great at driving.

yup noticed that, the main moaners / screamers are long term d raters.

Thanks for that, I shall certainly be comparing against it! I already knew Laguna Seca very well from other games etc but iracing is by far the most difficult, I've pretty much got the whole track nailed apart from the breaking zone up to the cork screw. If there's no one behind I can take it steady and get the perfect line but in races I seem to **** it up a lot.... or someone dives up the inside and takes me out.

One of the main problems I find with iRacing is a lot of drivers have complete brain fade when it comes to safe passing places. To make a pass at the Corkscrew you need to very good drivers for not to end in tears for one or more drivers. Really it should be done in the last or first corner if you are passing under braking.

So ive just gone an ordered a g27 and The Ultimate Steering Wheel Stand in Black . I paid £160 for a 2nd hand g27 in original box with docs in very good condition and £45 for the stand.
£209 all in posted.

This a decent price?

I best get installing some more driving sims/games!

Only thing im worried about is the brakes I get the feeling they will feel like use a pad and lock up easy ( after looking at the club sport v2 pedals they look like they actually act like an actual car brake!)

That's about the going rate.

Seems crazy that I bought a brand new G27 three years ago for £199.99 and it came with Gran Turismo 5 as well.

The brakes are ok, I've only ever used brakes that work via potentiometers so I can't comment on how much better/easier a load cell brake would be. You can always mod the pedals with a load cell anyway, but they aren't cheap.
