I don't think there's any doubt that the BMW is the quickest of the 3 GT3 cars. Even in my hands I'm quicker in it than the other two. Like I said earlier in the thread, they may well make changes to it before the season starts.
 
The GT3 cars are actually very close and competitive, this time around they got some fast guys including a DWC driver to test them against one another.

at COTA West i was doing the following race pace:

BMW Z4 - Low 1:28s
Ruf Track - Low-Mid 1:28s
Mclaren - Mid 1:28s

only .200 or so difference imo.

The main difference is that any noob can drive the BMW without spinning, whereas the Ruf and particularly the Mclaren are more of a handful.
 
Was that test ran with baseline setups ? No doubt there ran the MP4 and RUF with highly tuned setups the Z4 was running baseline setup with 10000 gallons of fuel on board.

Trust me its more than .2 in it for the average guy. There was people I was driving with last night couldn't get within a second off me last season now there ahead by a second.

I was running mid 1.07's the Z4 driven by people I can wipe the floor with low 1.06's

Something Isn't right. The Z4 even beats the MP4 in a straight line and top speed run. Now anyone who watches GT3 will know thats completely wrong the MP4's beat everything in a top speed run.
 
those are my times running my own tweaked setups with race fuel.

as for watkins classic... its a stupid track to do comparisons on as its basically a glorified oval, plus the draft counts for over a second here.

z4 should be slower on straights though but its pace advantage over 1 lap is made to look more due to the fact the majority of the track is straights.

Jeez they are quick times! :eek: Teach me ;)

My Z4 and MP4 time was 1:29:6xx while my Ruf time was 1:29:8xx though I didn't get a good balanced setup for the Ruf.

A that's good to know then. I hope they tweak the MP4 so its got the legs and the RUF is the all rounder. But do the balancing on the MP4 and RUF and leave the Z4 as it is. From speaking to a few people who was running GT3 in the RUF and MP4 last season the Z4 seems a lot closer to where the model should be.

I hope they don't nerf the Z4 I still feel the MP4 and RUF could be made a little more docile. I'n real life there drove by fat rich people.
 
Yay, new season server meltdown......again.

Registered for the 9pm race, took ages to accept me, then when I joined the race there were only two of us. So I basically did a 30 minute practice session. After the race the whole service was down.

I Still managed a 1:06.8 in the race without any draught at all and I'd say that the weather settings were slower than any of the pre season practice sessions.

yup, not a good start to the season.

Just had 2 SRF races, mid pack finishes and now 5th in Div 5. :) Kinda happy so far, but need to qualify as been starting at the back of the grid so far.

Comon iRacing, get the site up please, I need my fix.
 
It's not very good when you consider that in reality there aren't that many players actually using the servers at any one time. Even if every player that was online at the same time as me was in a server, it would only be around 3500 at the most.

Going to get some SRF qually in and stop being at the back of the grid.

edit : and down. Not entering any more races tonight, will loose points.

On a side not. I want to upgrade my aging G25 for some "proper" pedals and wheel / shift.
Looking at the TM 500, views and thoughts please ?

If not them, what would you go for around the sub £700 mark ?
