iRacing

I ended up missing too much for various reasons, illness/work mostly, now I'm doing a fair bit of overtime so not got any real time for iRacing for the next couple of months, worth it financially but gonna be glad when it's over :p

I've been doing quite a bit of practice at WG, don't mind the layout. Might help all the bus stop carnage on lap one by using the classic layout, but it's not exactly a GT3 style configuration. More like a 7 turn oval.

Either way I've managed to break the into the 1:06's, just, but lap times are very much dependant on the weather set by whoever is hosting practice. In other sessions I've been over a second slower.

I'm 1:07:7xx with 65L and default weather, that was in the Ruf

1:06.4 in the Z4 staring with 10 gallons of fuel and a bit of draught through part of the lap.

No idea what the weather settings were, it was a hosted practice session.

Whatever the weather settings were, the were quicker than defaults.

1.5 seconds slower in the MP4 and it's a lot harder to drive compared to the Z4.

The fact that the Z4 is faster on the straights than the McLaren tells me iRacing have got it a bit wrong there, as in the real GT3 series the McLaren is one of the faster cars in a straight line.

My PB in the BMW is 1:07:6xx with no draft and the default weather. The draft at this track is crazy. It's a shame they didn't use the classic boot, I like that layout.

They might make changes before the season starts, they did last season with the Ruf.

I did loads of practice during week 13 and then when I started my first race it was like a completely different car. Good job I had the warm up before the race to get a bit if a feel for it.

It's not like they don't continually make changes to the cars and the sim.

Looking forward to the new season. I have just upgraded to triple 27inch screens and the immersion is awesome. Also during week 13, I couldn't race the MX5's and so had a go in the SRF and got hooked immediately.

So all the content bought for the SRF session and really looking forward to Tuesday to get going with my 1st proper season.

I currently use a 40" TV to game on, which means I have a spare 24" LCD monitor.

I spent most of yesterday trying to use it in portrait mode to display the right hand side of the cockpit. Unsuccessfully I might add. Nvidia surround only works with 3 screens. Found a guide to use windowed mode, but that didn't work either. Neither did SoftTH.

I'm just using it as an iRacing data screen at the moment. But a triple screen set up is definitely on the agenda.

Hey barmy, how you liking the GTE wheel? Im currently torn either getting one for my t500 or getting one of the wheel adapters out there and sticking a sparco or momo race wheel on it.

I prefer it to the other two rims I have for my T500, but I'd much prefer something like the Fanatec BMW rim than anything Thrustmaster offer.

Found this on the pCARS forum

Though for the price of the rim and the mod components, you may as we'll sell your T500 and just buy the rim and Fanatec wheel base.

Yea thats a nice mod indeed but as you say price point, nah, unless your a T500 fan i guess - Does the GTE add any weight to the wheels FFB that you noticed, or damp it down or anything like that, ill probably get one first then look at the adapters.

Anyways im ready for S2 in the C-Spec, despite my impending promotion to B class, i like the C spec now and all the options on the Track for the B class confuse me lol From my little testing the C spec has changed a bit, its less understeery i feel, or it could be me but the brake pressure bias is confusing me, on the old i was at 58% BB now with the BPB its default is something like 46% which is horrid and around 51-52 is where it feels ok to me, but i lock the fronts a lot more.

Feels the same as the other rims.

The reason I've ended up with all three rims is that I dropped the whole T500 and broke the fixing hub of the original GT5 rim. I managed to repair it but the shifter paddles started to miss gears on the upshift. The GTE rim wasn't out then so I bought the F1 rim, which is ok, but I prefer a round rim so I treated myself to the GTE.

I got this the other day and coupled with my new G27 I'm really enjoying it. Going to do a SRF race in just a minute!

Is there a schedule of when the next season starts, and what races they are?

Well either I got slower over the last few weeks or that Z4 is much faster. Just been on a server with people I was racing in GT3 last season and could beat them easily. Couldn't get within a second of them. :( MP4 and RUF seem to be about 1 second off the pace at WG for me compared to the Z4 times.

Hope this isn't the trend or GT3 becomes pay to win.
