iRacing

Ive just been trying some laps in the lotus 49 at Mosport man that's tricky but good fun.

Im a full second off my old time of 19.6 so very rusty in this car and spending more time off track than on it lol.

Just upgraded to an Obutto Revolution I got second hand.

Triple 27inch Asus screens, T500 RS Wheel, peddles and shifter

Nice little keyboard tray that folds in and out.

Really comfortable and works well as my main desk when not racing without having to remove everything.

I've got a few questions about your Obutto Revolution, if you don't mind answering them?

What's the footprint of the complete rig, including the overall width with three screens attached?

Is it as comfortable to use KB & mouse from as an ordinary desk?

Thanks.

Width with monitors is hard to say really. find out what monitors you want, mine are 700mm wide, 1.7m at roughly 40 degrees.

Its perfect for regular use too, the kb tray pivots on 3 points making it real easy to put it where you want, and push it away when you dont want it (getting out, racing etc). All the attachments (kb tray, gearbox mount, hotas mounts, !!cup holder!!) have a handful of mountable locations, which means you can build it however you want. Ive had mine about 2 months now, and it took a while to decide where everything needed to be mounted so it doesnt clash with other items, and gives me access to what i need.

As an example, one of the main reasons i bought the R3v was Star Citizen, i wanted to buy a HOTAS (flight stick & throttle) for the flying, but theres an equal amount of FPS combat and free roam around your ships, planets, shops etc. I've set the R3v up and ive been able to put the mounts in for my X55 stick & throttle, and KB & M in a position where they're perfect for quick swapping, and the G27 is still mounted, untouched from how it'd be for racing.

^^

Excellent, thanks.

Looks like a perfect solution for me, as my man cave is too small to accommodate a sim rig, as well as the two PC's and desks that are already in it. An Obutto Rev3 would simply replace my current desk and chair and take up exactly that same space.

Just got to find the cash and wait for them to come back in stock.

Is she faster than you? :D

I actually watched the last 10 laps of your Skippy race, was a good battle between you and third place guy. I actually thought you were going to catch the leader near the end but you ran out of laps, was a good race to watch mate.

Thanks cuffylad :)

Starting 7th didn't help :D

I had the pace to win but I was harshly black flagged for cutting (even though I had 0 inc!!) a quarter of the way thru the race and lost so much time. The guy that came third was defending very well, my pass on him was perfection (if I don't say so myself :D). Around the outside on T1 at Zandvoort in a skippy, I was pleased with myself anyway :p

I like to watch people racing from time to time but I tend to be a bit of a bad omen :(

wndsr has created a OcUK Community TS3 server - Thread

I've posted asking him to create a channel for iRacing
Edit:Its just been created.
I'll be idling in there whenever I'm going to race or having a practice

Nice rig Paul! I'm jelly :(

Yeah, thats exactly what ive done, ripped out the fitted desk area, bought the unit seen in the background from Ikea and im using the Obutto for the same stuff as before. I was in the same situation, always enjoyed sim racing but could never justify spending the money for a 2nd computer and sim racing rig, and this solves my concerns over where all the different control devices would go for Star Citizen, as well as allowing me to work from it in comfort.

Thats my youngest niece, who's 5 and needs a bit of help, but when i'd finally finished decorating the room and got everything set up my brother came down with his 2 girls and the eldest who turned 9 the previous weekend was lapping the new Silverstone South layout without any help (full assists, in Assetto) and doing very well, and its been a good few years since she did a little bit of driving in Dirt 3 i think. I was quite surprised at how good she was. The little un likes to just weave the car back n forth :D

I have finally managed to pick up a T500RS, got it from the bay for 240 quid, unused and still in the box....bargain :D

I need to sell the T500 pedals as I have the CSR Elites, I also have a DFGT to get rid of as well now.

are the T500 pedals stand alone mate ? my friend as a dfgt and I'd liek to get hims some g27 pedals but I know these are just as good. Do they work like g27 pedals and you can run them standalone ?

A ok that sucks then. As we are talking around £40 - £50 to get them standalone. Guess he will have to wait for some g25-g27's to come up on the UKI sub forum.

Damn. Hopefully it is just some silly complications and he comes through for everyone.
As for Ebay you should be covered by them as well as PayPal.

If you paid by Paypal through the ebay links then it will be a proper paypal transaction rather than a gift, which you'll get back (although you might have to wait a bit), but the guys on the UKI forum are gonna have 'fun' getting the money back unfortunately

I kinda feel sorry for them, but it was an obvious scam, suspiciously cheap with no decent answers as to why they were so cheap, and from someone who had only just registered... Even then I was tempted, was just waiting for the first batch to arrive to get a bit more confidence...

Yeah I know I will get it back in the end, still annoying though. Its my first ever bad experience with Ebay.

On a plus note I managed to do a 1:39.5 in the Skippy at Mid-Ohio, I know its not fast but I have shaved off 4 seconds from last night so I'm heading in the right direction :)

Did two races in the top split GT3 last night first time in about 4 weeks Ive raced it no practice whats so ever just dived in with my Mosport setup. Ended up in the top split with a field full off 5000+ IR guys, Pushing like a mad manwatching people I was caining last season just bomb off into the distance.

Think im done with GT3 until it is at least close to fair. 1:46's Driving like a mad man was best I could do Those Z4's you have people who cant even drive sticking in 1:45's

Have no idea what Im going to race the rest of the season now. GT3 is potinless unless your driving a OP Z4. Shame as I was hoping Silverstone would be a track the Mp4's and rufs could compete on. Nope we are still around 1-2 seconds a lap off the pace :(

Least they have discovered why the Z4 is so much faster, idiots fudged the weight :(

Nothing at the minute, working ridiculous hours for the past ~3 months or so, hopefully coming to an end soon but right now got no free time :(

Have they said they'll balance the GT3 cars? cos it seems boring if everyone is in a Z4 because they're infinitely faster. They each need to have strengths and weaknesses which mix things up a little, great one week, not so much the next. I wouldnt want identical cars, or notably great/good/okay tiers, they should have their own quirks.

It doesnt really surprise me though, the MP4 comes out, then the RUF follows and happens to be typically faster, and then the Z4 follows which happens to be faster still. I get the feeling stuff is conveniently faster and then balanced once they've sold half the field on the superior car, and then level the playing field once sales slow down.

Agree with Roeg1 havent raced in the GT3 series just for this reason, went to the Proto GT series instead but of course now can't find official races in that series so I haven't raced at all in the past few weeks :(

Did a test around silverstone of all 3 cars and now keep in mind I'm not the fastest guy. BMW I was doing consistent low 1.46's, RUF mid 1.47's and the Macca was mid 1.48's and this has been pretty much the case all season. On a side note though there are people who can go fast in the RUF and Macca on the forum, saw a guy do high 44's in the RUF.
