I don't think there are any free trials at the moment. They have all expired.

This one still works.

Unless you have a wheel then I wouldn't bother if you want to get the most out of it.

Don't buy any extra content for it until your 3 months are up.

It takes a lot of practice and patience to get up to speed.

So dang close.

Should have been in the 2:05s if I hadn't been too fast in to Spoon and wide on exit, and been a car width from the apex in to 130R.

The race right after went well though. Started 3rd but dropped to 4th as I started on the outside into T1. I was hassling 3rd for the next few laps, but I went too deep in to T1 on lap 5 and dropped back to 5th after using the run-off around the outside. I had the pace to get passed the new guy in front of me, but no where to do it.

Another silly mistake on lap 7 at the hairpin meant another dropped position, but all three of us were nose to tail, covered by less than 1s. I was getting frustrated as I knew I had the pace to run 3rd but couldn't get past these guys.

A few laps pass and I could see 4th was getting ragged and 5th was right on him, so I decided to hang back for a while to wait for the wreck and save my tyres for the end. Should have known better that being an SOF race these guys were good and weren't going to wreck each other, however the tyres plan paid off. 5th place went too deep in to the hair pin after nearly losing it on the brakes in the right kink beforehand. I dived to the inside and just held on around the outside of the following fast right-hander. That left 4th place 1.5s in front with a little over 1 lap to go. I closed him down to 0.7 by the last lap, but nearly lost it in Spoon so decided to settle for 5th.

The points from the race should hopefully be enough to seal 3rd place in division 2. Happy with that in my first full season :)

I did some practice laps in the C Spec at Suzuka because that was last weeks GT3 track.

Still can't drive it. I was in the 2:08's most of the time so I deceided to give the Skippy a go as it was at Zandvoort this week and I love that track.

Plenty of practice, two qualifying sessions and four races. First two races I got taken out, both times by higher ranked drivers who didn't bother to qualify. Both times I was forced to put because of damage. Third race was more of a time trial after the first couple of laps, but I did manage to break the in time 1:54's for the first time. Forth race was great, nip and tuck with a Fin who was almost exactly my pace. He got the better of me in the end but it was a close finish.

I think I'm going to stick with the Skippy for my C licence car, seems like a car I can be clean with and reasonably conpetetative with.

Well done on the 3rd place in div 2, you definitely have some serious pace in the RUF. I don't know how you're so fast, you have way more grip than me looking at your video. Fastest I ran was 2:07.888. I managed a 2nd place though, is looking like I'll finish 7th in Div3, so I'm pleased with that, another 35 points would have got me 3rd place so not much in it. Almost 2400 irating, that's coming along nicely too.

Barmy, don't judge the C-Spec too harsh on Suzuka, it was not nearly as fun to drive as a lot of the other tracks this season.

I can't drive it anywhere.

Maybe a season of the Skippy, as well as the GT3, might help my car control improve enough to get a better understanding on the C Spec's handling.

You can't trail brake the C-Spec, or at least I can't. I really didn't enjoy it but endured a few races just to get my MPR to get my class B. I wouldn't race it again out of choice, I find the skippy much more entertaining.

Thanks mate. With this track you have to trail the brake everywhere, especially through the sweepers at the start of the lap to make sure the nose stays tucked in to the apex. Also short shifting helps a lot through Dunlop, the long right after the hairpin, and the long right coming to the start/finish line. If you shift at 8k RPM you only lose around .1s tops, but you'll gain that back with the time saved staying on line and not fighting the back of the car.

I'll post up my quali setup when I get home tonight, although it's not too far removed from the baseline IIRC. The main things I play with are brake bias, spring rates and wing angles as that's all I understand :)

I'd agree with this. My favourite this season was Interlagos as it had plenty of space and you really could throw the car around. Plus it's a nice short lap, unlike Spa, so it's a good place to practice at.

Did a race on Saturday night as the Mrs was out baby sitting. Came in 7 and didn't have any accidents apart from some dude deciding to spin my at the end of the first lap. Why would my oval rating not show a +ve or -ve? Mine and someone else's in the results window just shows a '- - -'

I did a ton of clean laps, surely I should get a boost from my 2.73?

-- means it hasn't changed

As it's calculated over the past 'x' corners it's quite possible to replace one set of corners/incidents with an identical or almost identical set hence not increase/decrease at all, although it's fairly rare

Wut? So for an accident where I was spun from my rear quarter, I get no rating change, even though I did 40 laps of no other incident!?

Thats nice and fair.

Safety Rating boils down to just a ratio between corners and incidents, or 'corners per incident', which is then converted to a class/'sr' value.

Ovals are especially bad at this due to low numbers of corners (most are '2'), even though the Americans like to declare they've got 4 corners for some reason.

The different classes take into account more or less corners, so a rookie drivers SR may only look at the last 200 corners, whilst A-Class could be the last 2000 corners (numbers plucked from thin air, as far as I know they've never announced what they actually are).

So by doing 40 laps you may have added 80 corners to your overall history, and by having an accident added 4 incidents over that period (even non-fault as barmy mentioned), so to get no change you presumably pushed 80 corners and 4 incidents 'out' of the history being used for your licence level, giving the same end result.

If you had 5 incidents it should've have gone down slightly, if you'd got 3 it should've gone up slightly, although presumably there's some rounding going on.

Who dreams up the week 7/13 car and track combinations?

Unless I drive the Legend at VIR I've got to buy a car or not use the service for a week.

Or drive a rookie series.

Same here, no way I'm spending money on Week13(7)

I'm taking the opportunity to get out of Oval rookies instead.

Edit:

Oh and UPS are definitely off my Christmas card list, last two days they were supposed to deliver and have not turned up either day!!! Getting any information out of them is like blood from a stone so beware if using Fanatec (or UPS) in the future. I shall be requesting another company if ordering from them in future.

I used the standard shipping, and they would have arrived very fast if they arrived on time, but UPS have had me waiting in for my 3rd day now with no sign of it coming, they just keep changing the delivery day and the depot are not returning my calls.

It's not Fanatec's fault as such, just a poor delivery company.

All I have access to this week is Mazda Cup and GT3 at Spa night. I'm terrible in the RUF track though as I'm so used to the CSpec. I keep braking too early and unbalancing the car by blipping on downshifts. It seems ridiculously easy to drive though.

Doing some ovals sounds like a good idea though. I haven't even done one Street Stock race yet and have my rookie licence still.
