iRacing

I can heartily recommend the Kia. It's a powerful FWD car so it drives unlike anything else on the service. Closest thing you'll get to a BTCC car, which is why it's popular with the UK contingent. The iRacing forums is a bit quiet on the Kia front, the main community action is over on the British Sim Racers Facebook group.

Cadillac I'm not so keen on. Races tend to attract the Yanks who generally don't get road racing, and it's a free car so the inexperienced people out of rookies can cause chaos in the lower splits. I find it a bit tricky, and the view out is bloody awful.
 
Points noted on the Cadillac, thanks for the insight. Kia/Skippy it is then. My friend has offered me access to his account to do some test runs in the cars to see how I feel about them. I hope he's got them both!

I was in a similar boat after my dreadful weekend. Keep at it, you'll find some good racing there are just some idiots about in some of the races

I got trashed in two GT3 races but then had a great skippy race the next day and actually got a win. Made it all better

Maybe consider moving to a different series that is a higher licence class? The Formula Renault will be out next season which is likely to be a C Class series, I'm certainly going to run it

GT3 is what I am driving just now, the problem I think is inexperienced people driving with low downforce, they just cant catch it in time. Spin out and take half the field with them on the first lap. Then you have the last of the late brakers, who think they are Vettel and crash into you to make the corner...

Formula Renault for me next season as well I think..

And of course, as soon as I posted that got a second in the next GT3 race, lol....
 
Hats off to you guys racing (& finishing well!) In GT3, you're braver than me!

I've been having a little break myself at the minute, since the RUF Cup went fixed I've not found another series I want to dedicate to but I'm thinking I'll split between IMSA & GT1 from next season.
 
I quite fancy GT1 but it's a shame that participation is quite low during the week

I take it RUF Cup isn't going back to open any time soon? I know it gets discussed frequently!
 
It was muted as Tony was suggesting the C-Spec would be pulled from IMSA but I think those changes fell through so it's all remaining as is now.

I fancied trying RUF Cup this week as I love Donny but I'm getting terrible stuttering, even with lots of things turned down, really shouldn't have an issue with my spec. Donny was always one of my go to testing tracks.

Is it definitely that version of the R8 and not the previous? If it is I think iRacing might be the first to feature the most up to date version :)
 
I was racing in the MX-5 cup last night and I battled my way up to 2nd, my highest ever position in any race. Suddenly, there was a loud bang and the dreaded 'your car is totalled'. I don't think I got hit, there was no-one that close to me - could it be a puncture or something? Finished 8th in the end :(
 
That's interesting, every time I go to do practice there seem to be very few cars doing it. Maybe I've just picked the wrong times, might have a run at it this weekend

The new GT3 cars look great but I'm not sure I'm ready to get crashed into all over the place trying them out

Looks like FR2.0 and GT1 might be my focus next season
