iRacing

I'm gutted. I've had two crazy busy weeks at work and missed all but two races at the Nordschleife in RUF Cup and GT1. The second of which I should have won, but tapped the barrier at Wippermann and had to trail home with a meatball for a lap and a half and scraped 6th.

Sad panda :(
 
Oh man. First race in iRacing was a little bit of a disaster :P

A) Jumped the start :( Thought it had launch control so I stuck it in first which was a bad idea.

B) Lost control on second to last corner on Okayama, hit a wall and entered the pit lane sideways so I got a black flag for "unsafe pit lane entry" :confused:

C) Overtook someone one lap ahead of me and on the first corner he drove straight into the back of me even though his race was over. Douchebag.

Anyways, I had loads of fun and it's awesome having such a large grid. Just wish I knew where I was losing 2-3s a lap over the top 5 guys.

It's only my third day playing iRacing so I still need to put in a lot of practice in. Between this, Assetto Corsa and Automobilista, it's a surprise that my g/f hasn't lost her **** :D

EDIT: I still don't understand how the licenses work. On the results page for the race, it says "Rookie 2.70 (+0.12)" which I assume means that I'm getting closer to a D licence. However on members.iracing.com it still says "iRating 2.50" and "Safety racing 2.58". Does the page take a while to update?

EDIT #2: members.iracing.com shows a safety rating of 2.70 now. Patience is a virtue :)

Setup for now in the garage. Which will be converted to a games room over the summer time..
 
My second race was the polar opposite of the first. Came second out of 19 with only one 1x, and was only 0.8s behind the leader at the end!

So chuffed :) I have never experienced adrenaline like that before in a PC game. My hands were sweating and my heart was pounding. Love it <3
 
Well done mate.

Wait until you are nearing the last corner on the last lap with 2nd place 1 10th benind you, that's when your adrenaline starts really pumping :)

What you described is exactly how iracing is, you hate it one minute then you're as high as a kite the next because you had a tremendous race.
 
Sometimes you can but say $100 iRacing credits for $75 so it kind of works like a discount (there is a lower denomination also) but generally no. Just make sure you buy 3 at a time for the discount. :)
 
Rig all set up and ready to go bar a graphics card. Really trying not to take my 970 out of my main PC.

Had a quick blast around Philips Island in the FR2 just using intergarted graphics, TBH it wasn't too bad on one screen The seating position is awesome though, just feels more natural.

Someone sell me a 970 or 980 please lol..

Plugged in my 970...

Completely forgot it has 3 x display ports 1 hdmi and 1 DVI.

Monitors are HDMI :(

2 x display port to hdmi cables from the rainforest winging their way as we speak :).

1 more day then it's triples :)
 
I'm really jealous. I want triples but it's going to cost a fortune, and I have to put them on a desk which I'm not so keen on. Can't get rid of the desk in favour of a rig.

I'll hold out for VR support and then see how it compares.

So it looks like I can't gain any more MPR unless I buy something.

I could use the Spec Ford Racer and buy the tracks for the "Spec Ford Racer Challenge" series, or buy the Skip Barber and the tracks for the "Skip Barber Race Series".

The SFR seems a little too similar to the MX-5 in terms of power, although it's a bit less tail happy. I'm guessing that the Skippy is the sensible choice if you're going to spend money?

I thought they did them at specific times of the year, like they always do half-price membership around Thanksgiving iirc, and i thought the other was March, and i have an email from this time last year saying it ends 31s March (and the common 'fancy that, its been extended' email), but checking my purchase history i bought one on Aug 22nd (2014) so i guess maybe that event isnt as predictable.
I bought a load of content at 2x 6 & 1x 3 items, yet the $100 for $75 is still sitting on my inactive account. Typical really.

Contact iracing support and see if they can transfer the credit over to your new/active account.

They are usually quite good about things like that!
