iRacing

been playing with cars/tracks i dont own on the test servers. Glad its down tbh lol

Ditto. Been itching to try the AMG Merc, Radical and a couple of stock cars for a while before potentially buying.

An unexpected bonus in this build - decent audio for the Kia. No longer sounds like a spin dryer...

Annoyingly I couldn't get on yesterday to try any cars, only got 13 weeks to wait. :p I too dislike rovals, but the Americans seem to love them, on the forums for the FR they were trying to get a couple on the schedule.

I tested the crap out of the cars yesterday while the service was down. Much to the dismay of my wallet, I liked quite a few of them.

The physics of the Lotus 49 are amazing, but the learning curve is far, far too steep for me at this stage. The Lotus 79 is just fantastic, and I can see that being a great car to get into.

The AMG GT3 tends to let go a bit too easily, but I really liked the R8 LMS. Didn't get a chance to try the Z4 GT3, but the McLaren 12C was much more predictable on the limit compared to the AMG.

The Aston Martin GT1 seemed quite easy to drive compared to the Corvette C6. The C7 rides like it's on rails. I did a full clean lap of the Ring with it on my first attempt which pretty much never happens.

I didn't find the MP4-30 any fun at all, but I have no interest in F1 so that's hardly surprising.

The Radical really tests one's skill, but remains fun to drive at the same time. I am really gutted that the participation is so low because I would probably give it a fair go if I moved up to a C licence.

The Ruf is a must-purchase for me. I'll be doing the Skippy and Ruf GT3 Challenge series with my D licence in Season 3. I just really hope that they do a 50% off promotion on 04 July because my subscription ends on 26 June.

Wish my ****ing Rift CV1 would be delivered already :( :( :(

@barmy The two Homestead roval layouts are very good though - the best ones in in the game I'd say. Definitely worth the purchase even if you only do road racing.

I finally managed a few laps on Imola late last night... just awesome :)

What I people thinking of doing next season? I'm leaning towards advanced mazda/Blancpain Sprint....... probably end up doing FR again though, even if I do hate it most of the the time. :p:D Looking forward to driving Imola as I do like the track, whether I will have any pace there though is another matter.

IMSA, Proto/GT and the odd RUF Cup race for me. The schedule for those series in the first few weeks is top notch; Spa, Nords, Imola, Monza, Sebring...

It's been recommended in the last when I've whinged about rovals, I think it's the principle that stops me buying it.

IRacing is expensive enough as it is, so for me it seems a sneaky way to get road car drivers to buy ovals.

I suppose one saving grace is if I buy Imola, Miami and New Hampshire at the same time I get the 40 piece discount, which works out at just over $10 so New Hampshire is essentially free and I would have bought Imola anyway.

Looks like they got me again.

I can second Miami being a great Roval, Daytona is my personal fav but this is a close second.

Does anyone here own either of the V8SC cars? Quite a big update for them this update, new sounds and physics. Loads of fun to drive, you can pretty much steer them with torque steer!

Series wise, I will run RUF Cup as many weeks as I have tracks for. I'll no doubt dip into other series like BES/GT1 if there are tracks I like and I look forward to some of the endurance events :) About time I earned some participation credits again!

That's a nice looking paint job, fancy posting p the others?

As I'll be going into only my 3rd season, I expect I'll do the Skippy again. I really like the non-clinical feel of it, and the continued (slow) improvement of my racecraft.

However I would also really be interested in participating in some endurance events. Excuse my ignorance, but the endurance events consist of what car class - GT3? Perhaps a season with the Merc? What would you guys advise?

Yes the Blancpain series is GT3 cars but there is also the VLN one where you can also drive the Mx5 and Kia Optima I think.

Thanks Grumpybeard, nice looking paint jobs :)

Mostly the BES (Blancpain Endurance series) covers the endurance events. IMSA usually has 1 long 180min race IIRC and the special events take care of the 12/24hour races.

As long as I'm not working over them I'm always happy to help field a team for an event, and know a few others I can call on if we're short of drivers.

Thanks Mike, Muska.

So to practice with GT3, the sprint series. Don't have the schedule in front of me, are there hourly official races?

Daft Q but I'll ask anyway - for team endurance it's the same car model for all drivers I team? Regardless, I'm up for it. Which car pref do you guys have?

Yeah everyone in the same car and you swap drivers during the race. I've never done it so I'm not too sure about it to be honest. How does the car set up work? Does team manager choose it? I have the McLaren but I'm open to other cars if people don't want to use it.

I don't mind which GT3 car, I think I have them all, although I have gravitated towards the AMG most recently.

Yes, for setups anyone can set it up by clicking to become crew chief, same for setting up the next pit stop etc. We can have a hosted session for team racing if anyone wants to try it out.

For driver swaps, one guy pits and you just leave the car with escape and the next driver gets in. All settings like pit limiter/BB are all as left.

Mike, something like a group on Slack/watsapp might be easiest to herd cats ;)

Slack is pretty good, use it for work stuff.

Ooh, getting excited for a change of wheels to GT3. Merc is pref but will give anything a go. Would def need practice in team mode, can commit to focusing on GT3 this season if we can get team together.

Happy to commission some team livery for car

Never used Slack, I assume it's an app but that's not a problem with me to use. Two votes for the AMG , I'll start testing that car this week then. I'll leave the livery to you then unless we want a solid colour car. :p Now we need a team name, Team OCUK? or do we want something a bit racier/funnier?

I've got all the GT3 cars and I don't do setups so I'm happy to go with whatever.

I'm not on any social media type things either, but I do have a mic and headset. :-)
