iRacing

You have to buy cars and tracks separately but you can run the rookie series with the content you get free with the subscription. Iracing ain't cheap but it's the best online racing experience. You can play it with the pad but I'm not sure what it plays like, I doubt there is many people using one.

ok thanks for reply, mmmm I may pick this up soon then,i havnt got a wheel at the moment but must invest in one, thanks again

A few of us on here also have a slack channel which we use much more than the forum to talk about general iracing chat as well as our endurance team. If any one wants to join send me a trust.

Been 2 and a half years since I last played this but the itch is back after playing F1 2016 a bit, only problem is I don't have a wheel/pedals anymore :p

What are some of the better wheels atm?

Logitech G29 looks decent but heard the brake pedal isn't that great?

I was interested in the Thrustmaster TMX too but would prefer 3 pedals + h shifter

Edit : Looking around a bit more and the T300 probably seems like the best option? I can just get a h shifter a bit later I guess.

I'm thinking about going with the T300 + buying T3PA pedals.

TX Leather or Alcantara seems a bit hard to find for cheaper than T300 + T3PA

Really enjoying the Advanced Mazda Cup at the moment! It's not the most exciting car in the world, but the racing is awesome because huge gaps don't form. One small mistake and you can lose two places very easily.

Can't wait until I get my B license so that I can move onto Blancpain Sprint (after a lot of practice).

I actually really like the new Mazda build.

The sounds are awesome, just the right amount of understeer for me and as you say the racing is always busy and close!

The GT3 cars with their TC and ABS are pretty easy to drive to be honest. The difficulty doing BESS in trying to get round in one piece. The driving standard is pretty poor, stay on the track and you usually on for a decent finish.

I ran some ghost laps in the R8 and AMG yesterday and they certainly weren't a handful, but the R8 can spin around fairly easily out of corners.

The Audi attrition rate in the Endurance races appears higher than the BMW and Merc on some tracks, as it snaps to oversteers and maims the unwary! As Mike says the Merc does get more lively with under 5 gallons in it, but it's generally a nice drive.

Is it just me are are the R8's brakes a bit stronger than the AMG's in the baseline setup? The AMG feels more stable at high speed though when I did some testing on Zandvoort.

I tested the Ford GT3 while testdrive.iracing.com was up yesterday and it wasn't enjoyable at all :( The new Nissan GTP ZX-T is a fricking hoot though!

Don't bother with the Ford GT, it's a really old car and you will probably only see one or two run it in a 40 grid race which says it all. Baseline set up for the merc is pretty crap, I don't like it all, if you have setup sync downloaded get a few set ups from there and have a go with them. A good set up makes a whole lot of difference. Brakes wise, I haven't found that myself. In the Monza race at the end of last season I was destroying everyone on the brakes with the AMG but that could have just been the set up. I have noticed that the R8 tends to get better exits out the corner though.

Watched the preview on Inside Sim Racing, looks good. But you can see frame rate issues at certain points on the track.

Like I said previously, I wished they'd sort performance over content.

What's wrong with the performance? With my RX480 I'm pegged at 144fps/hz all the time.

Le Mans is ok for me, although there is stutter in few areas despite high frame rates. I suppose it depends on how sensitive you are to it.

Imola is terrible, out of the last corner it drops below 60 fps.

Single screen? The overheads with triples and the maximum 63 cars on can cause framerate reductions at certain parts of the newer road courses.

Typically last corner at Imola, the Eau Rouge/Raidillon section at Spa and the Mercedes Arena section of the Nurburgring. That said I rarely see less than 60 even on the first lap with lots of cars around.
