iRacing

If anyone is interested in joining our OCUK iRacing slack group feel free to PM me with a contact email.

Last season we ran a Blancpain Endurance Series team, have the Le Mans 24H coming up end of October which a few of us are interested in doing :)

I emailed Leo Bodnar and they very kindly offered to let me come and try their demo system, even though I said that I probably wasn't going to buy their SimSteering v2 system due to the very high cost. Can't ask for better customer service than that :)

Deciding on a rig that's sturdy enough for a direct drive wheel is proving to be more difficult than I thought :( Leaning towards this one at the moment.

Black Friday ended up being rather expensive

I ordered a Bodnar SimSteering2 "53", a Sim-Lab GT1 rig, a custom-made carbon fibre formula-style wheel and a Sparco EVO seat. Feeling rather poor now, but very much looking forward to getting it all setup!

I had another demo of the Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals last night and I am 100% sold on them. Will definitely pick up a pair next year once the piggy bank has filled up again.

Looking at getting back into simming in January when the money tree starts filling back up, what would you chaps recommend as a good get-me-in rig setup? Got a 29 inch ultrawide currently with an R9 290, what is a good budget wheel and stand/rig?

Currys had G29/G920 at a good price over the last couple of weeks. Worth a look.

The R9 290 will be fine for iRacing, I was running triples off mine.

Had a real bug to get back into this so bought myself a G29 wheel, pedals and shifter and renew'd sub's for a month... Lets see how this goes!

Getting pace back up now, managed a 3rd in a race just now after I got smashed into and spun around and wound up in 6th! Clawed my way back though

Just getting back into this now I have lucked into a G27 wheel, and its made huge improvements to my laptimes.
However, I am getting paired in races with total noobs, and its killing my SR.
I qualify first in mazda cup at Lime Rock, and second lap get a mad dive up the inside, breaking my car, and causing me to have to pit.
I rejoin and am overtaking someone just after the exit to the right hander up the hill, and he just moved over and t-boned himself onto my nose, and totally screwed my incidents.
Finally, was moving back up the field into 3rd, when I get DQ for touching my wheel onto the grass at the exit of last corner!!

GAHAHAH

How do i get out of noob races more quickly, with less risk. I did try qualifying last and just lapping slowly, but found this even more dangerous :(

Use time trials to boost your SR, but you also need to get your irating up so you arent in bottom splits either.

Its just about learning to avoid idiots, if you see someone aggressively overtaking people stay away, jump out of his way, he will probably end up crashing out later anyway. Sure you dont want to be too passive but until you make it out of rookie's its the way to go.

These videos helped me at the very beginning.

Looks like RUF's time in the limelight is coming to an end. I've just read that Porsche is coming to iracing!

Sold my rig a couple of months ago.

Man do I regret that decision!

Coming back at the end of Feb with a new rig, £3000 to spend on it.

So far I have decided on.

GT Omega Pro Rig (one I had previously) £420
Triple Monitor Stand (Included in price for rig)
3 x 32" Monitors (still to decide)
Fanatec V3 Pedals £340
SimuCube + Small Mige Direct Drive Wheel Base £900
7.1 Heaphones £100
PC Build £600

Have I missed anything out?
