Sold my rig a couple of months ago.

Man do I regret that decision!

Coming back at the end of Feb with a new rig, £3000 to spend on it.

So far I have decided on.

GT Omega Pro Rig (one I had previously) £420
Triple Monitor Stand (Included in price for rig)
3 x 32" Monitors (still to decide)
Fanatec V3 Pedals £340
SimuCube + Small Mige Direct Drive Wheel Base £900
7.1 Heaphones £100
PC Build £600

Have I missed anything out?

A steering wheel and a shifter

pretty important bits lol

You should also sack off the GT Omega Rig and get a proper high quality rig if you're going to be using a direct drive wheel and presumably eventually upgrade to high end pedals such as the HE's or HPP's

http://sim-lab.eu do the best rigs in terms of affordability

the HE sim rig is worth a look as well as it includes triple monitor stand built into it.

Still got a Fanatec Formula Rim, which I will get converted for DD use. I never use a seperate shifter, always use the flapply paddles built into the wheel..

The Omega rig is sturdy as you can get, It comes with everything I need and is extremely comfortable. I completely understand the choice to go for the Sim Lab rig etc, but a bit overkill for me and will put me above my price range.
I loved my V3 pedals, so no need for me to upgrade to HE pros etc.

Seems like everything I need.

Anyone recommend 3 x 27 or 32 monitors?

Thanks

Cool, I would recommend using Simon Maltby from the UK&I forums to do the conversion. He could also upgrade the shifters on it to his snap action shifters which are far superior, will cost an extra £90 though. Highly recommend his work.

Cool, have you actually tried a DD wheel with it though because I've previously used the rseat rs1 which is considerably more stable than the GT Omega Pro and the OSW made that thing rattle. Pretty sure I also saw a picture on the iRacing forums of someones GT Omega literally snapping after sustained use with an OSW.

I had a Fanatec V1.5 beforehand, TBH I never had the FFB up that high. I think I was around 11 within iracing while driving the FR2 and around 13 while driving GT3 cars.

I have plenty of time to change my mind, as I keep the rig in my garage and I wont be using it until march/april, so I might be able to upgrade the rig with another wage..

Rather than triples have you considered/tried VR? imo it's far superior and no way I'd want to go back to triples now...

Did think about it, I have already had both the Occolus and the Vive. Didn't sit with me enough to use it permantly!

Thing that worries me about VR headsets is the screen being so close to your eye, made me a bit sick, so i couldnt imagine doing a 40minute race with one on.

Fair enough, triples it is then :p

Overlag, think it affects people differently, I had some mates around to try the Vive the other weak, and they were fine doing things like Google Earth VR and Space Pirate Trainer, even Elite Dangerous, but one of them barely managed to get out the pits at Watkins Glen before having to take off the headset.

I never had any issues and the weekend after getting it I did the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which was ~1h45 or so stints, bit warm/sweaty after that long but not a problem.

The GT Omega is certainly robust enough for a Fanatec v2 at full power. As long as the OSW isn't cranked up to insane levels it should be fine...

My Sim-Lab GT1 chassis sways a lot with my Bodnar :( Really can't work out why. I've removed the sliding pedal deck and it got a lot better, but I'm not sure that I'd recommend it. If you do go the 80/20 route, do it yourself.

I'd check the UK&I classifieds on the iracing forums. Might find something on there from someone who has switched to VR.

I ran, and still have setup, Asus VE278Qs. My only complaint is how they handle display port connections, monitors need to be switched on before the PC otherwise they lock up. They are only 60Hz however and if buying today I'd have gone with something that has a high refresh rate.

As you're set on monitors I'd go for a GTX 1060 or above for the GPU as iracing supports Nvidia's simultaneous multi projection for surround setups (although only up to a total field of view of 145 degress) which I found helped tremendously with keeping the minimum frame rate up.

That's a shame, and the first bad thing I've heard about a sim-lab rig. I was hoping to get one myself. Is it sat on a thick carpet by any chance?

I'm running 3x BenQ GW2760HS (thanks again to Muska :) ) Fantastic value, although they are 'only' 1080p and 60Hz. They more than meet my needs though, and run very well when paired with my 980. If you want anything more hi-res I'd definitely go for a 1070 at least.

I bought the RUF and the tracks for the season, I don't get on with the RUF at all lol. Still racing MX5 in the Global MX5 Cup for now pondering my next move. Although I feel I still need to stick with it before moving on as im 1.5 secs off the pace around Laguna Seca! :@

Whats the iRacing user names?

Could Anyone with 3 27 inch screens (5760x1080) mind telling my what their settings are? Just upgraded to triples and I think I've got the FOV set up right, that took forever. I've got issues with performance Vs Jaggies.

I've got a GTX 970 and it should run Iracing fine without the jaggies I'm getting :(

I'm not home for a week or so, but I have the same setup as you. I used the in-game calculator to produce the correct FOV and, other than that, I think I have pretty-much everything set to max. It looks good on mine and runs smoothly at all times.

Sorry that's not a lot of help, but I can look up the settings next week if you need more.
