iRacing

Rig all set up. Triple 1080 screens, etc etc.

Did 50 laps at silverstone on the FR2.0, 1.5 off the leaders pace. Which isn't bad considering I was away for so long.

Didn't qualify, started last, corner 1 a huge pile up, I managed to get around 2 swerving cars and then lost the back end and got rammed. 4 seconds a lap slower than I should be due to a messed up front wing.

Nothing changes!!!

Bloody prices do!

Still haven't resubscribed.

At $132 for a year they can bog off. That's £9 a month and more expensive than Neflix, Amazon Prime, PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold.

Especially when in the past I've been able to get two year subs for $99.

Can't get any of the discount codes to work either.

For the amount of driving I did before I sold my rig, it would work out to about 25p an hour per month. Which in the grand scheme of things is pretty damn good. Although I totally get the annoyance of the price increase it's still value for money for me.

You have to make sure your right on the offers when they do come up now as they aren't as frequent and as discounted as before. FR is always carnage, the hardest thing is to try and avoid the mess but if you do then you will probably get a good result.

Bit disappointed I haven't had an email with an offer to come back.

I havent resubbed in about 18 months, and havent had a single email thats been remotely enticing either. I get tons of spam from them, the most annoying of all is the emails telling me ive got a PM, of which the site refuses me access to, they're always reminders from a Skippy series i used to do, and because i cant get in to leave the group, i constantly get spam. I dont think theres been a single half-decent reactivation offer, they're usually 3mo/$15 rather than the 1yr one with a decent saving, and im pretty sure ive not seen a 50% offer in that time either. From what i understand, they always did a half-price credit around Easter, and half-price 1yr & 2yr subs for Black Friday. Well, not in the last 18mo they've not.

Not convinced i'd go back either, and ive got over $100 in credit sitting on the account. I've mentioned it before, but I refuse to pay full price for something i stopped playing cos nobody i knew was and got bored of practicing for races (it takes me far too long to get familiar/competitive on a track), and im stubborn enough to think im wasting the credit buying a sub if its not value for money, so the credit is basically money down the drain because i dont want to waste it  If anyone can explain that logic, you're either smarter than i am, or just as dumb :D

Nords Porsche combo is a beast!!! I know you guys who haven't subbed don't want to hear this :P

I'm really growing tired of driving on that track. I want to race/practice somewhere else. So I've setup a session at Donnington :)

So rather than reactivate my old subscription I decided to start a new account with just a one month subscription with a 40% discount. Just to see if I still enjoyed the game before spending on a 12 or 24 month sub and then not using it enough to justify the cost.

So far I'm enjoying it.

Previous experience and a reasonable amount of skill (compared to rookie drivers anyway) and I earned my D licence in 4 races and I currently have an SR of 3.65 and an IR of 1902. Should be at 2000 by now but lost 64 IR in my last race after my wheel disconnected twice during the race, the first time while I was leading. Maybe the G29 I'm using is faulty, even though it was brand new today. Or it's the USB extension I'm using to make switching to the Gran Turismo Sport Beta on PS4 easier.

Only other problem is I'm stuck on D licence unless I buy a couple of tracks or I wait until an MPR series is using a base content track.

whoaaa welcome back Barmy

or should i Say newbarmy!! Make sure you read the sporting code and watch the video's blablablabla :o:D:D

I resubbed a couple of months ago, bought a whole new rig/pc etc.

Joined a team for the 24hour racing. Plus the break away made me somehow a better driver, now up to 2200 ir even though I only tend to do 1 or 2 races a week and don't tend to stick to the same car.

Actually just won my first GT3 race at Monza this week.

Started streaming more on YouTube and Twitch, Zolex Racing on both sites.

Welcome back Barmy :)

There's never any time :p I did manage to get on and do some practice of the dirt ovals when that was released, quite good fun, impressed how much the track changed just over a short-ish stint in practice...

Thanks for bringing this thread back Barmy. I've been feeling the itch to get back in to iRacing again. My interest trailed off at the end of last year as I hit 6000 IR and found the races less fun as I was constantly worried about the SOF not being high enough to maintain that level. I know if I go back now I'll lose rating anyway as I'm out of practice so hopefully I won't care so much what I race :)

Although I'll need to dust off the wheel again, which I'm sure will make the missus really happy /s

I'm still not sure what my plans are going forward.

The G29 is like a toy compared to my Fanatec set up, but within 2 laps of using it I was within 2 tenths of my best time at the Jefferson Circuit (Summit Point) and have since gone faster with it than I'd so far managed with the Fanatec set up. I may well have gone faster either way, but the racing is just as good or bad no matter what wheel I use.

I'm tempted to sell off the Fanatec stuff for now, because the money could be better spent on real life. I've literally got thousands of pounds worth of hardware and software in my man cave at the moment and the vast majority of it is never used.

Gah, would've loved to do it again but going to a Stag Do on the 10th and won't be home till some point on the 11th :(
