I didn't realise the DK2's were going so cheap

What's the difference between the CV1 and DK2? Will the DK2 start to lose support soon in a lot of games?

Mainly resolution and fit/comfort. The SDE is going to be worse but conversely should be easier to maintain 90fps on a lower end rig

There's one going for 90 quid in the MM now so it's not much of a punt... :)

Make sure you get plenty of practice in before joining a race, I would also advise when you get in to your first race to avoid people like the plague and just get to the end of the race. I don't mean don't race people but be aware they will probably crash in to you if you get to close (or dive bomb).

Thanks for the tip. Hopefully going to get time to have a drive over the weekend! Want to have a play with oval and road and get a feel for what I prefer. But yeah general concensus seems to be practice practice practice before racing actual people. Is rookies really as bad as people say? Anyone else got any tips for a noob?

I didn't think I'd enjoy oval racing but I actually found it quite fun, lots of crash dodging though.

See a crash happening, slow down, get through it and then power on. You can easily move from last to at least middle of the pack by just avoiding crashes.

Ah. Squirrel. Ended up in a Skippy practise on Saturday, got a message from my mate saying "There's a twitch streamer in your iRacing lobby and he's onboard with you working out how to go faster...." :D

Ironic as I'd not driven the skippy in months, and kept making a hash of Maggots.

Didn't race anything last week. Not a Silverstone fan in any car.

GT3 was at Mid Ohio, no thanks.

And IMSA was at Spa and the all the x1 for annoying off tracks was too much to bear for a second week.

I haven't raced for a while now as my wheel died and the man cave is currently being reno'd

Luckily for me its almost done and in 3 weeks time I will have a shiny new Simucube/OSW coming to me :D

I didn't find it too bad all though quite a few were getting DQ'd. I ended up with +1.0 safety rating from 12xs which was much needed after Spa 24 hours.

Nice

Even if I wasn't saving like mad at the moment I'd be hanging back on buying a DD wheel and waiting to see what Fanatec offer. Mainly because they plan on all current wheel rims being compatible with their DD wheel. As well as their other hardware like shifters and hand brakes.

I know it's the same for everyone but it should be the same as real racing. All four wheels beyond the white line that defines the course.

And while they are sorting out that, sort the stupid weather out. Over two seconds difference in lap times because of the temperature is insane.

Did you watch the real Spa 24 hours? Looks like iracing was pretty realistic in that regard. The race director was throwing out drive throughs for track limits all over the place.

No I didn't, but generally a car is deemed to have exceeded track limits when all four wheels have gone beyond the white line that defines the track.

The system iRacing employs is if the centre line of the car has gone beyond iRacing's own special definition of track limits. Which is inconsistent to say the least.

Yeah I thought about waiting but I'm done with fanatec products and I don't think they will be able to compete with the OSW offerings.

Had my gear two years in November and I haven't had any issues so far. Did you have problems then?

I read that they won't be using the same motor as the OSW and other similar wheels. But since I'm not in the market at the minute, I'm prepared to wait and see what the reviews are like.

Find a my got to have a go yesterday. It's actually quite difficult :P had a go round Charlotte in the street stock and round Phoenix in the MX5. Plenty more practice needed before I race with actual people! Was struggling finding a good line on phoenix coming off the straight. Need to watch some videos I think.

Yeah most things I have bought from them over the years has had some kind of issues so decided to slowly replace it all with higher end stuff. Apart from a mortgage/beer I don't spend my cash on anything else.

Depends on the series/governing body.

The F1 rules read as "Drivers will be judged to have left the track if no part of the car remains in contact with it and, for the avoidance of doubt, any white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not."

The MSA here changed the rule in 2014 to prevent people taking the **** :
"Regulation Q14.4.2: Drivers must use the track at all times and may not leave the track without a justifiable reason.

Q14.4.2.a The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track.

Q14.4.2.b A driver will be judged to have left the track if any wheel of the car either goes beyond the outer edge of any kerb or goes beyond the white line where there is no kerb."

I tend to agree with the MSA.
