iRacing

I've been down this road before with a competitor of OcUK and even had trading standards involved and on my side.

I bought a monitor with a three year on-site warranty. When I came to claim that warranty the retailer claimed the manufacturer dealt with warranty. The manufacturer said they never sold it with an on-site warranty. And so it went back and forth. I did get it repaired but I had to send it away.

I got in touch with TS, who said the retailer was liable. Still didn't get me anywhere with the retailer despite many phone calls and emails.

Just sent OcUK another message claiming SoGA.

See what they say.

They also said previously that I can call customer services and they'd be able to trace the sale and email me my invoice. So I don't think proof of purchase will be an issue. Particularly now I've been informed that I bought it under the SoGA and so it's back to the retailer to sort out.

As I expect they came back with the burden of proof is on me that item had the inherent fault from the date of sale.

Can't say I'm surprised after reading up on the SoGA.

May as well cut my losses, sell it as faulty and move on.

12 month Subscription and car/tracks needed to compete for $49

Car and tracks are $65 for existing subscribers...

I might just have a crack no see how I get on...I'm not the biggest fan of downfarce and can't set up a car to save my life though...

With the work SMS have been doing with McLaren on Project Cars2 I fully expect there will be a qualifying round with the new game...

tballs this is exciting stuff...

I'm assuming the weather will be fixed?

Not that I'm bothered. Not going good to buy another car I'll never race as well as not having a hope in hell of getting anywhere in the competition.

Plus they included Circuit of the Americas to spite everyone.

Think I have the McLaren so might be tempted to give it a go, so bad at downforce cars though so not got much hope but maybe give me an incentive to really practice/get used to them...

I have the McLaren, but haven't driven it in ages. IIRC it's easy to keep on the road, but very hard to drive at 100%. Plus, being a WCS car the fast guys are crazy quick so chances of winning are very slim. They should just give the prize to Martin Kronke right now :)

My brain doesn't compute downfarce at all, I gave the same problem in every racing game and in real life. I'm not expecting to win, I was just thinking if I put enough laps in to get the hang of it I can get an idea how far off the pace I am.

That said I'm not a huge fan of the whole subscription model and don't want to pile money into content that I won't be able to access unless I maintain my subscription.

I don't think the image quality is as bad as I was expecting. Yes distance objects have less clarity then with a monitor. But the depth perception and emersion more than compensate.

Even my wife said it was impressive so it must be good.

Two side screens of my triple set up are already removed and ready for selling on. Probably end up being stuck with the arms that attach to the monitor stand.

It's funny how the individual user experience differs, for me whilst the sense of space is great in VR I can't get past the screen door effect as I'm looking further ahead so my triples are staying.

Luckily I'm enjoying other VR games so I won't be selling the rift on

I don't see screen door effect.

The worst I see is a scan line effect on text. I suppose it helps being 48 and my eye sight not being as good as it was.

Yeah some people don't get on with VR but I would say the majority that have it prefer it to triples. I love VR for sim racing, in fact I can't play non vr sims any more, they just don't feel right looking at a screen.

I'd also add that the image produced by the Rift on the OLED display is far superior to the the cheap TN panels of my triples. Making iRacing and AC look far more realistic in terms or colour and lighting.

Well strangely I really enjoy spectating in the rift, I will give it more of a go but I do have a triple 144 Hz 27 inchers so pretty happy with that. It's great you guys are enjoying it though and I will join you when either my eye site goes or the Res in increased ha
