Yeah, I've done that, I plonk it right behind my wheel when I'm racing. There's only so much a 1920x1080p 24" monitor can get to whilst not distorting the FOV too far though.

Yeah ultrawide would be the way to go for FOV issues without having triples.

You know the funny thing though. I thought ultra wide would be the way to go and well. But after trying a sammy 49" UltraWide, I much prefer triples. It wasnt as immersive and the image wasnt as nice I found personally.

I'd go triples if I could, it's cheaper and would much better suit my other gaming requirements. I just haven't got the physical space for it, unfortunately.

Same. Nothing beats triples for me. Even VR. The ultrawide is about the best fix if you don't have the space though. I've never used one, but the Samsung CRG9 49" is highly recommended on the IR forums.

I've done some quick measurements and I've got just over 58" to work with, the issue is I race at my desk so I'd be constantly moving all 3 screens backwards and forwards depending on whether I'm playing IR or if I'm doing something else.

Obviously triples is a better choice, the question was if you don’t have room for three.

Hey all!

I bought a G920 a few months ago for F1 2019 (sorry! :p) and playing it on my desk in my chair just isn't working due to rolling back when braking!

Looking to get into sim racing more, so am after a cockpit set up, and have been looking at the Playseat Evolution Alcantara. Does anyone have any advice on what to go for around that price range of experience with the Evolution?

I'm 6'3" and 100kg so need something sturdy and not looking to spend megabucks incase the bug doesn't fully bite! :p

I'm 6'2" and 120kg and went for the GT Omega but with my own seat from an Astra (https://www.gtomega.co.uk/collections/art-cockpit) they have another couple of styles too.

58" is plenty. I managed to squeeze triple 27" into a 49" gap...JUST

Yes but I don't have room for a rig and I don't want the hassle of having to pull all 3 into the correct position in terms of angle etc. each time I want to race.

I have 3 x BenQ 27" GW2760HS on my desk and they cover 57"! :) Pic here

I have at quite a shallow angle too as I also work at this desk, so they could easily be brought in closer. Ideally the side monitors should be 45deg from the centre.

With rigs, if you buy well you buy once and a good rig won't depreciate. I'm personally not a fan of the GT Omega/Playseat style setups as they wobble around far too much, and flex if you have a load cell brake pedal, let alone a DD motor. I'd suggest looking at https://sim-lab.eu if you're serious about getting your own rig.

Did some mock setups with a spare monitor and I could make triples work, it's just they'd all be at the back of the desk rather than right behind my wheel. Food for thought

maybe one day but for now while living in a 2 bed flat something like that is too big and wayyyy out of my price range! :p
It's a long time since iRaced, but I bought three very cheap monitors. Only 1680x1050 and not the best panels, but they were small screens and I built a wooden stand for them to sit on, on my desk, that I could slide up to the back of my wheel for racing. It's very affordable and gives you all the benefits of wraparoundvision without a big footprint on desk or wallet. It's not ideal, but it was the best money I ever spent on my flight sim/sim racing machine. The only major downside was not having a normal 'big' screen for desktop/single screen gaming use. But folk on a budget always have to compromise somewhere.

Anyway, just wanted to throw that in. What's the saying? The enemy of good is perfect? Something like that. Don't deny yourself something good because you can't manage perfection. :-)

Purchased a Playseat Evolution Alcantara in the end as it was in stock and looks like the best fit for my room!

Going to mount my LG 32" 144hz in a multi-flex monitor arm I can pull it down in front of the Playseat, hopefully it works out, i'll stick a pic up when everything arrives!

Thought as I'm having to stay at home I might sign up again but, although new members can sign up at 50% off, there doesn't seem to be any offers for returnees. Anyone know anything different?

Unfortunately i can only confirm what Spunkey has already said. I gave it a try about 5yrs ago when they sent out emails inviting ppl to return to the service with a $1 for 1y deal, and i lost interest after about 4-5 months. Im not quick enough at picking up the new combo and with nobody to practice with it just felt a little pointless, even though i used to love the fact that i'd often just catch a glimpse of the time at like 2:40am and think i quite fancy jumping in and doing another race and being able to do that at stupid times.

I havent seen them do anything remotely like that since then though. Just the half-price 1yr deals once a year. The annoying thing is i'd bought $100 credit about 2 weeks before i decided i really wasnt going to carry on, so thats sitting there doing nothing. I dont want to waste it on buying a 3/mo or 1yr sub and get bored again and waste that credit, so instead im basically wasting it by not using it. Its a stupid mentality to have really, and ive known it the entire time, but at least 4yrs on its still sitting there untouched. If they'd done a similar $1 offer i'd have jumped on it and likely bought more content with that credit, but i think it'll just stay wasted :(

PC which should be able to run it without giving me errors should be here today. Looking forward to jumping in the Skippy again

So final question for now - are any of you aware of a triple monitor desk arm/stand that will allow me to easily move all 3 monitors without losing the angles they're at?

As I race at the same desk I game at, what I do is pull my monitor to the front of the desk right behind my wheel. Ideally I'd be after something that doesn't mean I'd have to pull forwards all 3 monitors to the correct angle to get the FOV correct each time.
